Louisville plays for state title

CANTON — Louisville’s victory in a front of a sold-out crowd capped a thrilling Sunday of three state semifinal boys basketball games at the Canton Fieldhdouse.

Louisville outscored Garfield Heights 12-2 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 49-47 win in a Division III state semifinal. The Leopards have won 10 straight games, including their first regional title, as they advance to the state championship game in Dayton on Friday. Louisville defeated West Branch, 79-56, on Jan. 11.

Another Stark County team, Massillon Perry, beat North Royalton, 66-63, in a Division II state semifinal to end the Bears’ 24-game winning streak.

In the opener, Olentangy Orange beat Cleveland St. Ignatius, 58-54, in overtime. Cam Joyce is the head coach at St. Ignatius.
