Salem, West Branch pick up victories

SALEM — The Salem boys soccer team played its final home match of the regular season and rolled over Crestview, 6-0, Monday at Sebo Stadium.

Max Zacharias had two goals and one assist for the Quakers. Venjamin Gallardo and Troy Gibson each had one goal and one assist.

Emeric Callahan, Logan Bricker and Victor Panduro added goals. Cory Plunkett and Jake Davis also had assists.

Colin Riesen and Connor Plunkett combined for the shutout in goal.

Salem improves to 7-8-1 and will close out the regular season at Beaver Local at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Crestview is 9-7 and is scheduled to play at Campbell Memorial on Wednesday

West Branch 4, Ursuline 0

YOUNGSTOWN — The West Branch girls closed out the regular season with a 4-0 win over Youngstown Ursuline on Monday.

The Warriors are 9-2-4 on the season.

Ellie Tucker, Alinee Bacconni, Cambrie Nezbeth and Caidee Schroeder scored West Branch’s goals. Emma Klingensmith had two assists and Hailie Singer one.

Audrey Eaton made one save in goal and combined with Tallie Muniz for the shutout.

West Branch also won the junior varsity match, 1-0, on a Sophia Dorris goal.

Champion 7, Crestview 0

CHAMPION — MVAC Gray Tier leader Champion blanked Crestview, 7-0, in girls soccer action Monday.

Crestview’s Katie MacKay made seven saves in goal.

Champion improves to 11-3-2, while Crestview drops to 5-7-2.

The Rebels will host Garfield on Thursday.

Columbiana 4, LaBrae 0

LEAVITTSBURG — The Columbiana girls soccer team downed LaBrae, 4-0, Monday.

Columbiana improves to 9-4-3, while LaBrae drops to 2-13-1.

Champion 3, Columbiana 0

CHAMPION — Champion captured its 10th straight victory by blanking Columbiana, 3-0, in boys soccer action Monday.

Champion improves to 12-2-2, while Columbiana goes to 9-7.
