Rebels take sixth straight

NEWTON FALLS — Crestview continued its bullying of Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Division opponents with a 60-0 win over Newton Falls on Friday night.

Crestview (6-1) has won six straight and now is 4-0 in the league and tied for the league-lead with Garfield.

Crestview running back Max Hawkins again has a big game with 10 carries fir 154 yards and three touchdowns. Wyatt Hart added 88 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown.

Quarterback Jake Noling threw for 40 yards including a 13-yard touchdown strike to Jameson English. Noling also had a rushing touchdown.

Trevor McElhaney had 67 yards rushing and a 14-yard touchdown run. Hayden Davis scored Crestview’s last touchdown on a 26-yard run.

The Rebels led 47-0 at half and played the whole second half with a running clock.

Newton Falls fell to 0-7 and 0-4.

Crestview will travel to winless Champion next Friday.

West Branch 64,

Marlington 14

ALLIANCE — West Branch left little doubt in a 64-14 win over Marlington on Friday in Eastern Buckeye Conference play.

Joey Jackson caught three balls for 117 yards and three touchdowns for the 7-0 Warriors who are ranked eighth in the state in Div. IV by the Associated Press. Jackson now owns the school records for touchdown receptions in a career with 35 breaking the previous mark of 33 set by Nick Wilson. Jackson also had 125 return yards.

Jeremiah Thomas completed 13 of 10 passes for 225 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for 56 yards and two touchdowns. Cooper Anderson caught four of his passes for 45 yards and a touchdown.

Boston Mulinix added 12 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown. Damon Edwards also had seven carries for 44 yards and a touchdown.

Cohen Campbell had a fumble recovery on defense with Cam Summers adding a safety. Carson Graham and Charlie Biskup had interceptions.

West Branch outgained Marlington 456-260.

The Warriors, 2-0 in the EBC, will be at Alliance next Friday.

Marlington is 1-6 and 0-2.

East Palestine 28,

Wellsville 27

WELLSVILLE — East Palestine quarterback Owen Jurjavcic took things into his own hands –or legs.

Jurjavcic ran for four touchdowns, including three after the Bullogs fell behind by 14 points, to lift East Palestine past Wellsville, 28-27, Friday at Nicholson Stadium.

East Palestine improves to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference, while Wellsville drops to 1-6 and 1-3 in league play.

Trailing 21-14 at halftime, Jurjavcic scored on a 57-yard run up the middle to tie the score at 21-21 with 6:52 remaining in the third quarter.

He added a 4-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs took a 28-21 lead.

Wellsville responded with a 41-yard touchdown pass from Clayten Kersey to Richie Wyse, but the Tigers’ two-point conversion failed.

The Tigers got off to a good start as TaShawn Williams intercepted a pass at the Wellsville 18-yard line on the opening drive and returned it to the 37. After an East Palestine penalty, Isaiah Boyd scored on a 58-yard bomb from Kersey to put the Tigers up 7-0 with 7:55 to play in the first quarter.

Jurjavcic countered with a 1-yard touchdown run and Wellsville’s Tyrell Watkins returned the kickoff 80 yards as the Tigers built a 14-7 with 3:59 remaining in the opening quarter.

Watkins scored again on a 19-yard pass from Kersey on the first play of the second quarter to make it 21-7.

Jurjavic had a 22-yard touchdown run to cut the deficit to 21-1 with 8:18 to play in the second quarter.

Both teams return to EOAC play Friday as Wellsville travels to league-leading United and East Palestine goes to Columbiana.

United 49, Leetonia 6

HANOVERTON — United scored four touchdowns in the opening 10 minutes and rolled over Leetonia, 49-6, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Friday.

Six different Eagles scored touchdowns with sophomore M’Kyan Haynes scoring on runs of 65 and 35 yards.

United has won four in a row to improve to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the EOAC, tied for first place with Valley Christian.

The Eagles scored in the first quarter on a Braden Schwartz 1-yard run, a Parker Newburn 13-yard pass from Thomas Brown, a Kollyn Wellsville 54-yard run and Haynes 65-yard run.

Leetonia’s Dylan Brown hauled in a 20-yard pass from a scrambling Carson Brock in between as United built a 28-6 lead with 1:44 to play in the first quarter.

Haynes and Wyatt Swanson added touchdown runs in the second quarter and Hunter Casto closed out the scoring with a 10-yard run in the third quarter.

Leetonia drops to 0-7 and 0-4 in the EOAC.

Both teams return to league play Friday as United hosts Wellsville and Leetonia travels to Lisbon for the Spaghetti Bowl.
