Columbiana adds EOAC trophy

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana left no doubts in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference this season.

The Clippers claimed sole possession of a second straight league title by downing Southern Local, 25-13, 25-9, 25-12, Monday.

Columbiana has won 10 matches in a row, losing only one set along the way. The Clippers are 20-1 overall and 13-0 in the EOAC.

Ellie Jackson had 14 points, 22 assists, two kills and seven digs and Cameron Perkins had 13 points, four kills and eight assists for the Clippers. Ava Heinrich had nine points, three aces and 14 digs, Maryn Hepler seven points, three kills and six digs, Kelsy Cameron five points, eight kills and four digs, Danica Halas three points, five kills, two blocks and three digs and Landry Smith seven kills.

Columbiana jumped out to an early lead in every game, leading 15-2 in the first game, 18-5 in the second game and 6-1 and 12-3 in the third game.

The Clippers will wrap up league play at Lisbon on Thursday.

For Southern, Gigi Rodgers had four kills and three blocks, Allyssa Shroades six assists and Kenney Lewis 14 digs,

Southern moved to 10-10 overall and 6-8 in league play. The Indians will play in a tri-match at Paden City in OVAC consolation matches Wednesday. The Indians will play Paden City and Cameron with action starting a 5:30 p.m.

Columbiana also won the junior varsity match, 25-19, 25-5, to improve to 18-2. For the Clippers, Addisyn Dangler seven points, four aces, two kills and two digs, Eva Waller seven points, two aces, three kills and nine assists, Hailee Gomoll six points and five digs and Evy Rapp six digs.

Haylee Kellogg had four assists and two kills for the Indians, who finished the regular season with a 9-8 record. Hailey Maines had three assists and two kills and Breena Frischkorn two kills.

Crestview 3,

Boardman 0

COLUMBIANA — Crestview is living up to its state ranking.

The Rebels — ranked second in the Division V state poll — overpowered Boardman for a 25-15, 25-1, 25-22 win Monday.

Abbey Emch totaled 28 kills, two aces and 12 digs to lead the Rebels, who are 20-0 on the season.

Lainy Auer collected 16 kills, 13 assists, two aces and seven digs, Sophia Stewart 30 assists, Lydia Campbell three blocks and Natalie Blakeman eight digs.

Boardman lost its third in a row to drop to 9-11. It was only the third time the Spartans lost in straight sets.

Crestview also won the junior varsity match, 25-17, 25-18, to improve to 19-1. Valerie Boyd had seven kills for the Rebels. Cambriauna Davidson had two aces and 12 assists and Laney Boano nine digs and two assists.

Crestview will host LaBrae today.

East Palestine 3, Sebring 0

SEBRING — Senior Elle Berger collected her 1,000th career dig in leading East Palestine past Sebring,25-20, 25-14, 25-10, Monday.

Berger 11 points, two aces, 10 kills and 10 digs to push her career total to 1,005.

Also for the Bulldogs, Cami Kridler had 14 points, three aces, 15 assists and seven digs; Amara Wilson eight points, three aces, 13 kills and nine digs; Marley Blythe eight points, two aces, seven kills and five digs; and Alyssa Dilling two aces, five kills and five digs.

East Palestine improves to 7-12, while Sebring drops to 0-17.

The Bulldogs also won the junior varsity match, 25-16, 25-18, as Jacklyn Ogle had eight points and three aces and Randi Murphy seven points and five aces.

East Palestine will play at Lisbon today.

Salem frosh

SALEM –Salem topped Lisbon, 25-13, 25-9, 25-4 in freshman volleyball action Monday.

Lisbon leaders were Lillian Tenzek with three aces, seven passes and two digs, Sofia Brown with an assist and a kill, Tamara Herron with a kill and Emmy Haynes with a block.
