Clippers, Lions bow out of soccer tournament

COLUMBIANA — Bristol’s Daniel Sigler scored twice to help the Panthers down Columbiana’s boys soccer team 2-0 in a Div. V sectional contest.

No. 16 Bristol advances to meet the winner of Friday’s Campbell-Warren JFK game in the district semifinal.

No. 14 Columbiana ends the season at 10-8.

Rootstown 8, Heartland 0

ROOTSTOWN — Rootstown scored an 8-0 mercy rule win over Heartland Christian in a Div. V sectional contest on Wednesday.

Heartland, the 44th seed, ends its season at 3-14-1. The score was 3-0 at the half.

Rootstown, the 12th seed, will play the winner of Saturday’s Badger-Berkshire game next Thursday at a site to be determined.

VOLLEYBALL

Waterloo 3, East Palestine 1

ATWATER — East Palestine’s volleyball season came to an end with a 24-26, 25-9, 25-18, 26-24 loss to Waterloo in a Div. VI sectional contest on Wednesday.

East Palestine (8-16) was the 27th seed.

For the Bulldogs, Elle Berger had six kills and 17 digs, while Amara Wilson had five kills, 14 digs, six points, four aces and two blocks. Cami Kridler had eight assists, seven points and four aces. Marley Blythe had 16 digs, three kills and four points. Kennedy Andre had eight assists, seven points and an ace. Alyssa Dilling had 11 digs, three kills, five points and two aces.

Waterloo, the 25th seed, will be at No. 2 seed McDonald on Saturday.
