COLUMBUS – The Ohio Hospital Association Board of Trustees on Oct. 11, appointed Anita Hackstedde, MD, president and CEO, Salem Regional Medical Center, to a vacant trustee-at-large position of the board.

“Dr. Hackstedde’s experience as a hospital leader and service as an internal medicine physician will make her an excellent addition to the OHA board,” said Mike Abrams, president and CEO, OHA. “She is a strong advocate for health care policies that are important to hospitals and during her tenure as president she has expanded health care access and community programming throughout her community.”

Hackstedde joined Salem Regional Medical Center in 2006 as the Vice President of Medical Affairs, following eight years in private practice as an Internist/Pediatrician. She completed her medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus and has received a number of awards throughout her medical and administrative career.

Appointed as SRMC’s president and CEO in 2013, Hackstedde has been instrumental in carrying forward SRMC’s progressive vision for future growth and service development as an independent, not-for-profit hospital in Northeastern Ohio. Since then, she has overseen the opening of an 87-bed patient private-room tower; a $4.6 million oncology, orthopedic and outpatient expansion project; and the completion of a $6.3 million endoscopy renovation.

Hackstedde’s most recent leadership accomplishments include the 2024 launch of a 76,000-square-foot SRMC Surgery & Outpatient Pavilion in Columbiana, which offers an independent medical imaging facility, outpatient surgery center, infusion center and multi-specialty physician offices. At the same time, she opened the SRMC Primary Care- Canfield facility in southern Mahoning County, which features a busy primary care practice and a second, medical imaging location.

The OHA Board of Trustees sets policy and strategic direction for matters affecting hospitals throughout Ohio. The board includes representatives from small and large hospitals, urban and rural hospitals, teaching facilities and independent facilities and health care systems.
