LISBON — The Columbiana County Park District joined Gwen Hoogendoorn from the Ohio Wildlife Center and Vice President of the Ohio Wildlife Rehabilitation Association, to release six young foxes back into Columbiana County onto park property. The six fox kits arrived at the center in Columbus after being transferred by the Lake Erie Nature & Science Center.

The foxes had a journey after being found in Columbiana County then delivered to the Lake Erie Nature & Science Center in Cleveland where they were then transferred to Hoogendoorn at the Ohio Wildlife Center in Columbus. The foxes are raised for approximately seven months then returned to the county where they were found.

Red foxes require a habitat with fields for hunting, woods for shelter and a water source. The Columbiana County Park District was excited to assist with the conservation of these foxes. Assisting with the release were Kyle Koprowski and Tim Jasinski from the Lake Erie Nature & Science Center.
