United Local hires new hs principal
HANOVERTON — United Local has a new high school principal.
The school board met Tuesday night in a four-minute special session to hire Sarah Hamilton-Phillips to fill the vacant position.
She currently is employed as an assistant principal at Alliance Middle School, where she has been since last summer.
Hamilton-Phillips previously had served as a seventh-grade teacher and coached both volleyball and basketball at Salem City Schools since 2012.
She possesses her doctorate of education from Youngstown State University.
United Local Superintendent Lance Hostetler said that what stood out for him was Hamilton-Phillips’ commitment to students and her all-around innovative leadership.
She begins with United Local on Aug. 1.
