Columbiana County mental health board offering mini-grants for projects under $250K

The Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board is offering a mini-grant opportunity to provide a limited amount of one-time-only funds for small projects that provide creative and innovative opportunities that directly improve and build upon positive mental health and/or provide alternatives to substance use. 

Applicants must be an organized group from Columbiana County with an annual budget under $250,000 and can give evidence of such; and who has the financial capability to account for the funds awarded. Applicants may not have an annual budget of more than 50% state and/or federal funds. Potential applicants include classrooms, church groups, small organizations serving youth and/or adults, probation departments, theater groups, art groups, musical groups, school parent/teacher organizations, community and neighborhood groups, libraries, community service groups, small businesses, recreational groups, others. All projects and activities must be completed between Nov. 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025.

A completed (typed or computer-generated) application using the Mini Grant application packet must be received by Friday, Oct. 18, at 4 p.m. The application must specifically state how the project will improve and/or build upon positive mental health and/or provide alternatives to substance use by addressing at least one risk or protective factor from the provided checklist. 

Up to a total of $10,000 is available for awards this fiscal year. It is expected several groups will receive grant funding. Partial awards may be made. Previous grant recipients may apply, but priority will be given to new projects.

The Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board is a public agency that plans, funds, and monitors a comprehensive system of mental health and substance abuse services for both children and adults. The Board exists by Ohio statute to assess needs, plan ways to meet needs, contract with providers for services, pay providers for services, account for public funds, oversee and evaluate providers, and assure that rights of service recipients and community members are respected. Federal, state, and local levy funds are used by the Board  for the operation of the mental health and recovery system in Columbiana County.
