"How can adding these millions of illegals to the welfare rolls be 'good for the country'?"

"Good for the country" is liberal authoritarian code for "Good for the party."

""One of the biggest questions about the US economy is just how many of the long term unemployed will ever return to the labour market."

Give them a few months and cut them off the dole. If they don't want to work then, they can starve to death and be a boon for the funeral/cremation industry. Two birds with one stone :)

If you are able, and yet refuse to work to support yourself, you do not deserve ANY taxpayer dollars.

" So, can someone interpret for me?

US Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen has said there is still "remaining slack in the labour market". "

That's easy. The unemployment numbers always stated by the lamestream media and the un-American President do not reflect the millions that have dropped out of the labor force and stopped looking for work.

"Go into nice hotels in cities. Foreign workers are the ones in housekeeping, in the breakfast areas, etc. It's not lower income Americans who want to work doing that. "

Stop paying multiple years of unemployment, raise the requirements for getting on welfare, and you will see Americans taking those jobs.

"In the sit-down with Todd, Obama rejected criticism that the postponement is merely a political tactic intended to help embattled Democrats in the months before contentious midterm elections, saying that the delay will help make new immigration policies “sustainable” when they are announced later this year.

“What I'm saying is that I'm going to act because it's the right thing for the country,” he said. “But it's going to be more sustainable and more effective if the public understands what the facts are on immigration, what we've done on unaccompanied children, and why it's necessary.” "

How can granting amnesty to millions of illegals be 'good for the country' when millions of Americans are out of work? How can adding these millions of illegals to the welfare rolls be 'good for the country'?

Can someone please explain that to me?

Luke Bartholomew, manager at Aberdeen Asset Management Investment, said Ms Yellen was being "deliberately vague" by telling the market "nothing to see here".

"Unfortunately that's just making markets more desperate for answers," he added. "Her strategy is probably to deliberately underwhelm.

"She's saying the Fed might raise rates soon but then again might not. That kind of vagueness suits her because it leaves options open."

"One of the biggest questions about the US economy is just how many of the long term unemployed will ever return to the labour market.

"The fear is that no one, least of all Janet Yellen, knows the answer," he added.

So, can someone interpret for me?

US Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen has said there is still "remaining slack in the labour market".

It was understated by the unemployment rate, she said.

She called for the slack to be "more nuanced" in the way it was assessed, due to "considerable uncertainty" about the level of employment.

Ms Yellen said the "underutilisation of labour resources" still "remained significant" to the US economy. (I understand her here, but what a way to put it!)

If inflation went up more rapidly than expected, she said, increases in the federal funds rate target could "come sooner" than expected and "could be more rapid thereafter".

But she added: "Of course, if economic performance turns out to be disappointing and progress toward our goals proceeds more slowly than we expect, then the future path of interest rates likely would be more accommodative than we currently anticipate.&quo

ladybug...many have points of view and there are a number of us who are Christians, but hate from we Christians? Our country's moral compass has gone into the jon and we have no answer to the lies coming grom our elected officials, especially our President. Hate? More like a sickning feeling in our heart. We long for a time when you believed person's word. We want a discussion without being called names. And, we want our Constitution and other laws followed. Is that too much to ask? Does every thing have to be politically based? Why does wrong have to be maybe or ok? And, when did we let government run our lives or better said ruin?

No, I read no hate but rather a disagreeing with a terrible time in our country...where Christian or not, we want better.

And, this is according to African American writers, undocumented workers (and some documented) are taking many many lower tier jobs, and the born-here Americans losing the most job-wise are African Americans.

"Those so called illegals are little kids."

This is another lie from Obama and Company, spread by the government stenographers posing as the mainstream media.

They are not 'little kids'. Most of the minors are 14-17 year old males. Many of them already have gang affiliation. The minors are a small part of the soft invasion from the southern border.

The majority of those illegally crossing the border are adults and 'family units'.

But keep on believin' the male bovine exhaust, bug.

"And it's a vicious cycle that multiplies with each generation. If Momma don't got no man, no job, no education, and has an attitude about it, what is she teaching her children?"

That's what the 'Great Society' programs have done for (to?) America. Allegedly designed to lift the poor out of poverty, we got:

A woman doesn't need a man to provide for her and their kids anymore, Big Daddy Government will do it! Free home, free clothes, free food, free medical, free dental, on and on. Father not required.

More proof of this simple fact: Liberalism ALWAYS generates the exact opposite of its stated intent.

"I find it strange that a person who talks religion so much can harbor so much hate towards other people. "

I find it strange that someone who has lived as long as you can't tell the difference between disagreeing and hate.

That's typical, though, just like disagreeing with Obama is racist. The Left cannot win by honestly debating their positions, so they try to smear the messenger.

Alinsky, anyone?

Considering the U.S. has lost a lot of jobs to Mexico, plus their boom in their tourism trade in the last twenty or so years, why are they still coming up here? There are jobs down there!

You really have to ask: Exactly what kind of people are coming up here? No, I'm not asking about ethnicity or nationality. I'm asking about quality. What quality of people are coming up here? Is this the Mexican way of clearing out the jails, ghettos, and trailer courts?

Why hasn't Obama used his negotiating skills to this country's advantage? He traded five terrorists for one soldier. Surely, he can trade five freeloaders for one illegal.

"Those so called illegals are little kids. The older ones you complain about have been in the US for over 16 years. and justifiably so should be given a chance to become citizens."

I'll go along with this if they get current on the income taxes they should have been paying for those 16+ years first. If they have had no taxable income during all that time then send them back immediately. What difference does it make if they can't get a job down there or won't work a job up here?

And it's a vicious cycle that multiplies with each generation. If Momma don't got no man, no job, no education, and has an attitude about it, what is she teaching her children? Just gets that much harder to pull out of that lifestyle. And it is a lifestyle. If I pay $400 for rent and am on welfare, food stamps etc, it is to my financial advantage to add children to my household. My rent is still $400 and I have proportionately more coming in. If I'm not an earner, I don't need to worry about their healthcare expense, their school lunch (and breakfast?) expense, and there's no way I'm saving for college costs.
