That is correct. I graduated SHS, enlisted in the Navy and now live in Houston. I did come home in 1996 when I was discharged, but couldn't find a job. So I left and haven't been back to Salem execept once a year to visit relatives.

ZeroT, My comments were all accurate. Although I'll not need the hotel for a very long time, if ever; I still understand building it and don't have a problem with it at all. I do understand that although I may not need to stay there, other folks just might. And I don't get this casino thing that everyone seems to want to build. I know it's profitable, but I prefer Vegas where you get all the lights. There's no place like Vegas if you want to blow some money and drink alot.

Lafa-rue!

I've been reading through this mess and trying to figure out some of them and it's like wth?

I skip over Mingus's comments, because those are just the norm junk he quips. But man, Mtlhed, you lost me.

First you write this.

Mar-31-14 9:07 AM Agree | Disagree

"I have no interest in casinos or in bars or night clubs. If I want to go to a casino, I'll go to Vegas. I won't even be patonizing the new hotel on the east side, unless it's 30 years from now, my relativives are all dead and I visit Salem on my bucket list and have to stay in a hotel."

Then you turn around and write this:

Apr-01-14 9:02 AM Agree | Disagree

Don't get me wrong, I think a hotel is likely needed and a good thing for Salem. Folks need a place to stay besides a roach motel. I'll just never need to stay there as long as my mother and sister are still alive.

"Q is developing a 'fan club', Beaumont. You know how people disagree with any statement from certain screen names."

You nailed it. LOL, remember notSocialist when we used to copy and paste a comment from a few of those agitators on here and use their comment as our own comments later on another article and then they would charge in and unknowingly disagree and beat up people with their very own words they had written?

Never a dull moment when it comes these comments! lol

And I've never seen a bad Holiday Inn Express. I stayed in one for about 2 weeks while doing a job in North Texas. It was very clean and friendly; and there was a batch of free cookies they made every day for crews coming in from job sites. It's always been a nice, non-eventful stay. So now I actually search them out if I need a hotel for the night.

When we have to stay over when we come to Salem it's a trip out of town to sleep or leave early to get back home.

To be a city without a hotel was the pits. Weddings happen here. Salespeople do come here. The Cruise is here. (I mean, Lisbon, Columbiana, E Liverpool, Sebring, Beloit Deerfield have them) Talk about a major lack--we had it.

My draw to Salem, besides the obvious that it's where I grew up and it is a special place for me, is to see my family. As far as an attraction or draw for me, it was always just Josies, Mario's, the VFW or a nice cruise down State St. And one of them is gone (again). That's about it.

"Don't have to yank a chain just touch it."

Beamont, you claimed my chain was yanked because of the Salem News. Explain how you believe my answer to questioner was the result of my chain yanked by the Salem news?

"Why do you believe that the Salem News only posted that poll question to yank on chains?"

Beaumont, answer the question. This is Grant's rules not mine. ANSWER the question. Are we having fun yet?

And Grant, this time, don't pull your normal tantrum of " haha , I have had enough of this ignorant conversation and I'm outta here routine".

Because this time, this I was outta of town rhetoric you use isn't going to work either.

PUT UP OR SHUT UP.

Grant sez: "Your willingness to blame the public sector for what the private sector isn't doing is mind boggling."

What exactly did I say that supports that smart mouth response. Copy and paste it.

"Did you not understand what I said about a casino magnate tapping a market that was lucrative?"

Here Grant let's have fun. I don't understand your question, explain that in detail. You have the brains remember, I don't, so explain that theory of yours Grant.
