There is another aspect to this that I do not think people are looking at. In 1971 when I joined the Army there were a lot more troops in support roles. Those support roles are now civilian army careers in Accounting, Medical Officer, Attorney, Medical Technology, Civil Engineering, Nursing, Computer Engineering, Psychology, Contracting, Quality Assurance, Electrical Engineering, Safety and Occupational Health/Social Work, Human Resource Management, Cyber, Industrial Hygiene, Foreign Affairs, Information Technology, Public Affairs & Communications Media, Logistics Management, Program Management, Mechanical Engineering, not to mention the base laundry and the mess hall. Currently there are more than 330,000 civilian men and women working in every profession imaginable that are not active duty military.

"He is an incompetent, inexperienced child in a man's job." Ah yes, the 'childlike' qualities of the ***** people. Where have I heard that before? Still is is pretty remarkable that this 'child' accepted a two-year position as Visiting Law and Government Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School to work on his first book. He then taught at the University of Chicago Law School for twelve years—as a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996, and as a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004—teaching constitutional law. Tell me notSocialist, what institution of higher learning have you taught constitutional law at? :>)

Same old comments from the same old people. B-o-r-i-n-g! The question is Do you support Sec. Hagel shrinking the Army to it's smallest size in 74 years? My answer-NO. End of discussion.

notSocialist, Well at least you did not try to lie and say that you did not refer to him as 'boy'. You seemed to just skip over that part in your reply. As I said before, I do find it amusing that while most racists today are too cowardly to admit the truth, people like you cannot help but slip and then giggle thinking no one will call you on it.

That was quite a rant, TripleD. I'm not going to respond to all that. I could crush every bit of it, but it wouldn't do any good as everyone else already knows better, and you are a fully engaged true believer. I will give you credit. You had to dig real deep to come up with all that. I don't think the history books will be written that way but, if you're lucky, there will be a footnote explaining that Obama did have a very loyal base of followers who obeyed without question and you were a proud part of that...All Hail Obama!

Just looked at a comment pretty much at the start here wondering about bases overseas.

I think the main reason we have them is for logistics. We couldn't fly straight to Afghanistan so needed to stop in Germany. If we are going to have a force in the pacific theater, we need bases in Japan.

President Obama would not have been so stupid as to squander an authorization of force. President Bush on the other hand was all about payback and I believe the main reason that there are 4,487 dead, and 32,226 wounded Americans is because Saddam Hussein tried to assassinate President Bush Sr. after the first Iraq war in Kuwait. The Bush family are all about payback and will go as far as to out undercover CIA agents who reveal the lies used to justify the Iraqi war.

"those that haven't become smitten with his phony "hope and change" crap or been bought off with government freebies". Every President has some theme or campaign slogan. It is the was you accuse people of being smitten or being bought off that shows your pure hatred of this president. I do not believe such hatred can be cultivated in politics alone and no President Kerry would not have had such a solid opposition to him.

"During the last couple days, I have heard the term "paper tiger" used quite a bit to describe Obama." If President Obama has become a paper tiger it is the Republicans that made him that. When President Obama drew a line in the sand saying that if Syria used Chemical Weapons on its own people then we would intervene, the Republicans decided not to support him. Republicans who never met a war they did not love would not authorize the use of force because they view anything to weaken this President as a good thing even if it is at the expense of this nations security. This is why Putin is now free to invade the Ukraine. If President Obama is now a paper tiger it is people like you who made him that way. You got your wish, President Obama now looks weak. Democrats approved the use of force in Iraq to give President Bush a bargaining chip and he gave us a 1 trillion dollar war while handing Iran the keys to the Middle East. President Obama would not have been so stupi

During the last couple days, I have heard the term "paper tiger" used quite a bit to describe Obama. Is that a racist term? Was it racism that caused him to run his mouth again when he should have kept it shut? The Russians haven't done anything differently in Crimea than the US has done at least a half a dozen times in other parts of the world in the last half century, but yet Obama thinks its okay to criticize and threaten them when they do it.

The remaining free thinking people in this country (those that haven't become smitten with his phony "hope and change" crap, or been bought off with government freebies) are not only gravely concerned with the fate of this nation, but are now deeply embarrassed.

Had John Kerry became president, I can assure you he would have pushed the socialism enslavement program just as hard as Obama has and he would have taken just as much fire from the right as Obama is now. The racism theory just doesn't hold water, especially when it gets brought up only when the Obama worshippers have no further substance in their argument. You don't understand...when someone on the right hears the words "racist" or "bigot" or whatever other insult someone on the left is using to try to make an argument, that person is not actually hearing those words. They are hearing "You got me. I give up."

"That's your answer to everything. It's untrue, and getting old." That is the only explanation for your venomous hate of President Obama and your treason to the United States of America. I put up with eight years of President Bush but I never hated him the way you and your friends hate President Obama. I never tried to sabotage President Bush's efforts the way you try to sabotage President Obama at the expense of this country. Racism is at the heart of this whether you want to admit it or not.

Why is it the only people that see the color of Obama's skin is the Democrats? That is all they focus on and talk about. Black Obama Black Obama, Black Obama! Democrats can't afford for racism to die. Their best strategy is that ole race card.

"But I didn't call a black man a racist, 3d. I'm calling you a racist." While I am not black, I am a democrat and I think that is the basis of your attack. You have gone out of your way to explain how it was the democrats who were the racists 50 years ago. You like ignore the fact that it was President Johnson (a democrat)who signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 causing those racists to switch political parties. I think it is pretty clear that I am not a racist and I think that once again you are using that name to justify your own bigotry.
