A big diplomatic push in talks with Iran. If a deal is reached, will Iran honor it?

  1. Yes
  2. No

No one but the Iranians knows if they will honor any deal. From what I understand their people will be as divided on that subject as Americans are divided now on the direction of our country. What I hope we should all be able to agree on is that we at least need to make the effort to reach a deal with them. In 1971 while I was at the South Eastern Signal School in Ft. Gordon Georgia, there were Iranian troops being sent there for training. One group in particular took to the American life style and went out drinking and partying every night. Their instructor decided that they had not really applied themselves to learning the material being taught and failed quite a few of them. We learned from the next class that the Shaw's government took them out and shot them when they returned home. That is the same Government we backed in Iran for over 30 years. Still to this day there are an awful lot of Iranians that basically love the United States and western ideas.

Can't agree more, TripleD...but they are probably the smartest peoples in the Arab region and they certainly have hidden technology that they have developed.

Right now, they only want to do what they can to get sanctions lifted and to give them more time...I hope the negotiators are smarter than I think they are.

Did I understand the news correctly this morning? Basically the French ambassador said we'd be fools to accept this at face value?? (I just caught part of it)

Trust, but verify.

I have no doubt the Iranian people want the same things we want (personal liberty, freedom to improve one's self economically, etc.) but they have the same problem we do. Like here, they have a central government of elitists that is continuously over reaching it's bounds in the name of a sacred belief system in order to assert control over the masses. The kool-aid they get is a different flavor than what we get, but its still kool-aid.
