rpmwwe, unless some rich people start donating a lot of money that'll never happen, since the fireworks show prices are jacked way up to do it on 7/4.

Now all we have to do is get the city to celebrate Independence Day on July fourth.

For years Salem had trick or treat on the Sunday afternoon nearest Halloween from 2-4 in the afternoon. It's only been recently that Salem has gone back to Halloween trick or treat.

TS it wouldn't be the downfall of America; its just stupid, that's all. Who wants to go trick or treating or pass out treats on a day that's "not" Halloween.

Its a good life lesson for the kids. If you want the reward, then you gotta go get it regardless of the variables.

I don't think trying to schedule outdoor activities for fair weather is exactly the downfall of America. Just because people were stubborn about it 50 years ago doesn't make it the correct and only way.

What's next? Reschedule Christmas due to no snow? Independence Day because rain hampers fireworks? Birthdays because it didn't fall on a Saturday? Oh wait, people do that all the time; which drives me nuts.

It should not have been flat out canceled, but I don't see an issue with postponement. I trick-or-treated in crap weather plenty, so I know it's doable (just carry an umbrella and dress warm), but if Saturday was projected to be a nicer day I don't see the issue in postponing. In this case it's supposed to rain Saturday too, so they were kind of stuck.
