I work in Healthcare IT as a consultant and sometimes my job takes me into hospitals. I get a flu shot every year now.

Must be a liberal to disagree with a posting as to how TripleD gets a flu shot every year...scary!
I know there's a lot said about the dangers, but we trust our Doctor and he said we should and we did...even the (HD) High Definition kind this year.

Sorry...maybe it was the flu shoot?

I had a couple of heart attacks in my early 40's. I get the flu shot every year now as recommended my family doctor and heart doctor
I haven't got one in 20 years and I've been fine. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with them (hopefully) but maybe it's just my distrust of anything government.

But I do find it funny that everybody I see go get one, ends up getting sick anyways. So I figure, why bother with it.

So someone disagreed with TripleD who gets a flu shot because he has more exposure than most, and someone disagreed with Mtlhed who doesn't but hasn't gotten sick.
They just stated their reasons--how it is possible to disagree?--that is how they feel. And they gave their reasons. If you have another point of view, say it.
That's like disagreeing if I now say I think disagreeing on a post like those is idiotic. I do think it's idiotic. And no post-er with sense can say I don't feel that way.
TripleD, I agree that with your exposure you should get a shot. Mtlhed, I agree that you don't see why you should, so you haven't.

May I add that even though the context is different, and I've disagreed with these in the past, I understand a little what can motivate someone to say:

HaHa. I will take those as a joke rather than the alternative.
Flu shots are horrible. Aside from the many conspiracy theories (many proven to be very valid), if nothing else, it's overmedicating people. It's helping to create super bugs that are difficult, and will eventually be impossible to treat. There is a ceiling, we will eventually create viruses that can't be treated effectively because of things like flu shots. Just more unintended consequences of things that completely rational people think are great ideas--we just often get too excited about what we see as benefits and we ignore the potential consequences.

I would if I could, but I'm allergic to raw eggs. The flu shot is incubated (grown) in chicken eggs.

Here's an enigma to ponder. Am I lucky that I almost never get sick considering that I don't get a shot, or is it that I almost never get sick exactly "Because" I don't get the shot? I've always bragged and joked that I have an immune system of steel. Could it be because the few times I did get sick, I let my system fight it on it's own with no doctor visits, no shots and no antibiotics?
Mtlhed, you'll wish you'd have gone to a doctor if you ever contract strep and depend on your "steel" immune system to protect you.

Yep...everyone is correct except the one's who hit disagree.

True. I'm sure that if I ever get sick enough, and eventually I will, the wife will make me go see the doc.
