Nice to see these people who make six-figure salaries voted to keep their 75% ObamaKare subsidies, paid for by us. Does anyone here get 75% of their insurance paid for by us?

One never knows...

But, ponder this...

The last time there was a shutdown of the government, it has been reported that the country lost a lot of money...

But, the tax dollars keep coming in; 800,000 employees who would normally get paid are laid off; utilities and maintenance costs go down; and, essential programs continue...why is money lost. It would seem, money would be saved.

Just wondered?

A lot of revisionist history has been laid out about prior shutdowns. In reality, nothing bad happened.

Only non essential personnel aren't working today. Why do we pay non essential personnel in the first place?

Well Grant, their are 800,000 nonessential govt employees. Why don't you step up to the plate and do one of these jobs for free. Pick one.

So basically there are 800,000 people getting paid by the people to do work that the federal government was never intended to do and isn't supposed to do.

It's not like the gov people not working now will not be paid for this time. Last time they were paid their 'back pay' when gov got going again. So they basically get a paid vacation--yes, the pay is later, but they didn't have to work at all. (At least, that was the case for one of my kids)

A House dog and pony show?! What about the Senate? Afraid to demonize your own party? Funny how the ones being blamed for the shutdown are also the only ones who have put an proposals out there.

Ok . How come John Boehner wouldn't allow a vote on a clean CR in the house.

Cause you know it would have passed and we wouldn't be here today.

First of all the house was the only one on c-span.

Second the house is made up of both parties,

Third you made the same reference to dog and pony show yesterday. So play you kid games with some one else

The senate has put several clean CR's out there and Big J, refuses to bring it to the floor because he knows a lot of republicans will defect and vote for it.

Obamacare was voted on and passed by both houses, signed into law by the President and upheld by the Supreme Court. It's law, that's how our government works. The house Republicans attempt to repeal it has been unsuccessful, it remains law, also how our government works. Extortion is not how our government works. The President and the Senate owe no concessions, the shutdown is totally on the house republicans.
