There's more respect now than in the 60's, 70's. Just like there's more respect for vets. But I agree that a lot of people don't get what it or the National Anthem, etc stand for. And a lot of recent and current college profs were brought up w/no respect for these things and taught that way, which means a lot of kid's teachers taught that way, which means it's only going to get worse.

Ladybug there are a lot of flags around town. The rotary has placed a lot of them. For a $25 donation they will come out several times a year and put one in your yard. A lot of the people that have them though, unfortunately are the old generation. Questioner is right about the younger generation. They don't seem to have the same strong convictions of us older folks. They like their freedom but I am not sure they realize what it cost for them to have it. I am not say all young people but a good percentage of them don't seem to care like Americans once did. Perhaps it is just a sign of the times.

I enjoy seeing those flags. What's better yet is that I don't think there's been any vandalism or theft of them. So there must be fairly decent respect for them. (Don't tell me if there's been problems--let me believe good about this.)

The shame is that we don't see the flag honored as it should. It is a way of showing how much we love our Country. But, unfortunately, I fear it's the way our Country is headed!

"There's more respect now than in the 60's, 70's. Just like there's more respect for vets." This is very true if you travel you see more flags and more respect. In the 60's and 70's vets did not say they were vets.
