HEADLINE: Arkansas to Allow Teachers to Carry Guns at School

"Dougan is among more than 20 teachers, administrators and other school employees in this town who will carry concealed weapons throughout the school day, making use of a little-known Arkansas law that allows licensed, armed security guards on campus. After undergoing 53 hours of training, Dougan and other teachers at the school will be considered guards.

"The plan we've been given in the past is `Well, lock your doors, turn off your lights and hope for the best,'" Superintendent David Hopkins said. But as deadly incidents continued to happen in schools, he explained, the district decided, "That's not a plan.""

HEADLINE: Missouri gov. signs gun-safety course for first-graders

"JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri schools will be encouraged to teach first-graders a gun safety course sponsored by the National Rifle Association as a result of legislation signed Friday by Gov. Jay Nixon.

The new law stops short of requiring schools to teach the Eddie Eagle Gunsafe Program. But by putting it in state law, Missouri is providing one of the stronger state-sanctioned endorsements of the NRA-sponsored firearms safety course, which the group says is taught to about 1 million children annually.

The legislation also requires school personnel to participate in an “active shooter and intruder” drill led by law enforcement officers."

Headline: Armed Thug Threatens Ariz. Man and His Wife – But It Wasn’t the Homeowner Who Needed Help

An Arizona homeowner shot an armed man who broke into his Sun City home early Friday morning, Maricopa County sheriff’s deputies said. The suspect was able to elude authorities for hours after being shot but was apprehended at a local golf course.

The armed suspect, identified as 33-year-old Joshua Barnes, allegedly broke into a home at around 2 a.m. and threatened the homeowner.

When the thug went to say something to the homeowner’s wife, the would-be burglary victim retrieved his own gun and shot the suspect.

DuckDuckGo Search Engine Gets Boost After PRISM Scandal

The 'anonymous' search engine DuckDuckGo is getting a boost off the PRISM scandal that is putting big tech companies like Google and Apple to shame.

DuckDuckGo, a search engine that claims it gives its users complete anonymity, has seen a 33 percent increase in users since the NSA news broke over a week ago, said founder and CEO Gabriel Weinberg on CNBC's Closing Bell Tuesday.

"We always knew people didn't want to be tracked, but what hadn't happened was reporting on the private alternatives and so it's no surprise that people are making a choice to switch to things that that will give them great results and also have real privacy," Weinberg said.

Headline: Neighbors organize ‘Glock Block’ after increase in crime

"CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore. -

After an increase in crime, residents of an Oregon neighborhood have decided to take up arms instead of involving the police.

According to the DailyMailOnline, neighbors have organized what they call a ‘Glock Block,’ after several residents obtained concealed carry permits.

Fliers posted around the neighborhood read, 'This is a Glock Block, We don't call 911.'

While most of the crime has involved incidents of petty theft and vandalism, residents still say they have had enough.

The group says they practice responsible use of weapons.

Police have caution the group against pursuing vigilante justice if crimes are spotted.

Police make a note of cautioning anyone from pursuing vigilante justice, though armed citizens have become more common deterrents to crime."

Headline: What we learned when we sent a female reporter shopping for a home-defense handgun.

The Daily Caller decided to send this reporter to gun stores in the D.C.-Metro area to document purchasing a handgun from a female’s perspective, recording what recommendations I received and why, as well as how I was treated.

My proposal was simple: I am a young female looking for a handgun for home defense, with the ability to be used for concealed carry down the road, and willing to spend $500 to $600.

There were a few things every gun store recommended. First, each gun store discussed the basic factors one should consider when purchasing a handgun: functionality, reliability, ease of use and weight.
