'Chicken on the Run' being sold today
SALEM - "Chicken on the Run" drive-thru chicken dinners will be sold from 4 to 5:30 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church, 244 S. Broadway Ave.
The meal includes a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $7.
Sebring American Legion hosting breakfast
SEBRING - An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be served with coffee and juice from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Sebring American Legion on California Avenue.
Proceeds will benefit the West Branch cheerleaders. There also will be a 50/50 raffle.
Weekly fish fries starting at Sebring Legion
SEBRING - Weekly fish fries start Friday at the Sebring American Legion on California Avenue.
Fish platters are served from 11 a.m. to noon and an all-you-can-eat fish dinner is served from 4 to 7 p.m.
Ghost hunt scheduled Saturday
HANOVERTON - A ghost hunt begins at 11 p.m. Saturday. Participants will meet at the old school house and bring cameras, recorders, plus other investigating equipment. Cost is $8. For reservations and information call 330-205-5103.

Vendors accepted for Family Fall Fun Day
SALEM - Monday is the vendor application deadline for Family Fall Fun Day.
Any group interested in setting up a vendor table for Family Fall Fun Day is asked to submit an application from the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce's website at salemohiochamber.org.
This one day family-oriented event is slated from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 13 in downtown Salem. Haywagon rides from Salem firefighters, a petting zoo and pony rides, Jason Alan magic at 11 a.m. and a pet parade co-sponsored by the Humane Society of Columbiana County at 1 p.m. will be a part of the day's activities. A scavenger hunt sponsored by Salem Preservation Society. The Salem Historical Society is sponsoring trolley rides.

COLUMBIANA - The Oasis Food Ministry will hold a food distribution from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 11 and 25 at First Christian Church, 39 Cherry St.
Spaghetti dinner will benefit orphan
CANFIELD - A homemade spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road. Proceeds will help with medical expenses for Kolya Deiken, a disabled Russian orphan from Dmitrov, Russia.
Kolya first came to the area as a child to be fitted for prosthetic legs several years ago. He has outgrown his prostheses and costly adjustments need to be made. The dinner will be prepared by the Russo family.

Craft show planned at Lisbon Hoist
LISBON - A craft show is slated from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 18 in the Lisbon Hoist building at 321 S. Beaver St. In addition to crafts and other assorted vendors, there will be a Chinese auction, baked goods, raffle, etc. Admission and parking are free.

First Friends hosting program for children
SALEM - Salem First Friends Church is announcing a new Wednesday evening program for children. Registration for the new group, Friends For Christ, begins at 6 p.m. today, followed by the new Veggie Tales movie, "Celery Night Fever."
Children in grades kindergarten to sixth are welcome to sign-up for the new group which will include Bible time, crafts, games, and snacks.

SHS Hall of Fame induction is Sept. 11
SALEM - The Salem High School Athletic Hall of Fame's induction dinner and ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Salem Community Center (SCC).

Reilly Stadium pavers still available
SALEM - Sept. 15 is the last day, for this year, to order a Reilly Stadium paver for the Dedication Park at Reilly Stadium.

KOA Fall Festival planned for Sept. 13
SALEM - The Salem-Lisbon KOA Fall Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 13 at 33807 Winona Road, Salem.

Used shoes being collected at games
SALEM The Salem High School Class of 2016 will collect shoes at all home football games starting Sept. 12. Gently used shoes will be collected in the truck by the ticket booth at Reilly Stadium.
Approximately 10,000 pairs of shoes have been collected to date. A goal of 15,000 pairs has been set.
Holiday bus trip to NYC offered
SALEM - The Salem High School Boosters and Choral Director Attila Samu are announcing the third annual bus trip to New York City on Dec . 13.
The trip is open to the public. The 54-seat deluxe charter bus will depart from the Salem High School parking lot at 11 p.m. Dec. 12. Arrival will be approximately 7 a.m. at the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center.
Passengers will have the day to themselves. Sites include Fifth Avenue featuring the FAO Schwartz Toy Store, Saks and Tiffany's, Times Square, Toys R Us, Disney Store and M&M World, the 9/11 Memorial, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Macy's, etc.
The bus will pick up all passengers at 9 p.m. with a return to Salem at approximately 6 a.m. Cost is $90 per person. Payment is due at the time of reservation to secure your seat on the bus. Order forms may be picked up at either the Salem High School office (330-332-8905) or Salem Computer Center on Second St. (330-332-2201). Tour protection is available for an additional $10.
