CALCUTTA Betty J. Balmenti, 80, of Cherry Lane, Calcutta, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
She was born in Monongahela, Pa., on Feb. 18, 1934. Her father, Raymond Kelly, died when Betty was young. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Peter and Dorothy Palmer Rapp.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. She retired from the former TK Roofing where she worked as a secretary.
Her husband, Samuel W. Balmenti, survives at home. The couple married May 1, 1965.
Survivors also include two daughters, Marie (Alan) Gatchel of Salem and Kelly (Sam) Grafton of Steubenville; two sons, Philip (Jayne) Balmenti of Rogers and John (Chris) Balmenti of Negley; nine grandchildren, one great-grandson, two sisters and four brothers.
Friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Father Peter Haladej will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius Church.
Burial will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
Following the cemetery, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
