Leetonia Library plans Ice Cream Party

Story times resumes at Leetonia Library
LEETONIA- Leetonia Community Public Library's preschool story time resumes on Sept. 9. It will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesdays.
The library also hosts multiple book discussion groups. The AM Bookends group meets at 10 a.m. Sept. 3 to discuss "Rainwater" by Sandra Brown; the Classics group will meet at 6 p.m. Sept. 25 to discuss a banned classic, reader's choice; and the Nonfiction Book Group will meet at 6 p.m. Sept. 30 to talk about the Sacco and Hedges book entitled "Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt" about areas exploited for the sake of profit, the advancement of technology and progress.
EP council plans special meeting
EAST PALESTINE - Village Council will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday for the purpose of interviewing fire chief candidates.
EP ALumni to hold annual rose sale
EAST PALESTINE-The East Palestine Alumni Scholarship Association announces the start of their 21st Annual Rose Sale. Delivery day is Sept. 26. The roses sell for $12 per dozen and are personally delivered by association members and volunteers. Orders can be placed by contacting an association member or sending order information to Barb Kliner, 116 Claybrook Drive, East Palestine Ohio 44413 or calling 330-426-4860. Include any special delivery information with the order along with a check to EP Alumni Association. This project helps fund scholarships for East Palestine High School graduates.
Forums to discuss shipments to landfill
LISBON- All Columbiana County residents and elected officials are invited to attend an informational forum to be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the West Point Church of the Nazarene. The forums purpose is to discuss topics of possible safety concerns as a result of radioactive materials that will be accepted at the proposed Municipal Solid Waste Landfill that will be located in Madison Township. Discussed safety concerns will then be presented at future procedural meetings regarding the PTI application for the Municipal Solid Waste Landfill.
Spaghetti dinner set at Negley Masons
NEGLEY- Negley Masonic Lodge will hold a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at the lodge, 50873 Richardson Ave. (state Route 154). Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. The dinner is all-you-can-eat and take-out orders will be available.

Community Hospice needs volunteers
SALEM- Community Hospice, a non-profit agency, is now in Salem and Columbiana County and is in need of volunteers. Volunteers provide a wide variety of support to patients and their families. They can choose to work directly with patients, helping in administrative offices, quilting, delivering supplies, reading and many other opportunities.

Show of Bands set in Canfield tonight
CANFIELD- Canfield High School will host its 40th Annual Show of Bands at 7 p.m. tonight at the Canfield High School Stadium. This year's show will feature a special appearance by the Youngstown State University Marching Band. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens and can be purchased at the stadium.
Butler trustees to meet Sept. 2
BUTLER TWP. - The Butler Township trustees will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 2, due to the holiday. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the administration room at the township hall on Slater Road.
Swiss steak dinner set in Winona
WINONA- The United Soccer Association will host a benefit Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Winona Friends Church on Whinnery Road to help with its scholarship fund. The dinner will consist of Swiss Steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, desserts and coffee, tea or water. The cost of the meal will be $10 per person and $6 for children 3 to 10.
