ROCK HILL, S.C. - Clyde E. Marks Jr., 73, passed away on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at his home in Rock Hill, S.C.
Clyde was born April 14, 1941, in Hollandtown, Pa., the son of Clyde E. Marks Sr. and Mildred (Papic) Marks Berrong.
He graduated from Salem Senior High School in 1959. Clyde was the co-captain of the 1958-1959 basketball team that played in the state finals, and a member of the only Salem undefeated team.
Clyde attended Miami University of Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army. Clyde worked at Ebara International in South Carolina, where he held the position of vice president/general manager from which he retired. He was a member of the Elks and the International Hose Club of Salem.
He is survived by his wife, Judith McPeek Marks; a daughter, Rayetta (Gerald) Smith; a son, Joseph Michael (Kimberly) Marks; a granddaughter, Katie Clinton; a great-granddaughter, Ava Kelley; a stepson, Chad (Carrie) Beatty; and a stepdaughter, Lori (Brad) Marcrom. Clyde is also survived by a sister, Jeannine Taylor of Leetonia, Ohio.
A brother, Barry Marks, preceded him in death along with his parents.
A memorial service will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 23, 2014, at the Salem Elks. The Elks Honor Guard will honor Clyde with a ceremony at 2:30 p.m.
