LISBON - Shirley H. Steele, 90, of North Street, died at 12:53 a.m. Monday at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Steele was born March 26, 1924 in Washingtonville, a daughter of the late William and Rhoda (Bosert) Hannahan. After high school, she attended the Youngstown Business College.
She worked as a secretary for General Electric in Erie, Pa., the Columbiana County Farm Bureau and the Worthington Company in Cleveland until the birth of her first child.
She was a member of the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Steele also served as church secretary for 12 years.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 66 years, Alfred "Fred" Steele, whom she married Aug. 8, 1948; daughter, Paula (Chris Baker) Steele of Columbus; sons, Dr. Carl Wayne (Bonnie) Steele of Port Clinton, Ohio, Mark (Candice) Steele of Decatur, Ga., and Tod (Tracey) Steele of Columbus; and one granddaughter.
A private memorial service will be held for the family Saturday afternoon at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home. Private burial will take place at the Lisbon Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church, Hospice of the Valley, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
