SALEM - Beulah Mae Batyski, 90, died at 10:16 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at the Salem Regional Medical Center.
She was born May 25, 1924 in Salem, the daughter of the late William and Fannie (Smith) Grace.
She was a 1942 Salem High School graduate, and attended the Salem Business College. She retired as head cashier for 30 years at the former G.C. Murphy of Salem. Beulah was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church, the R.S.V.P. and a former member of the Salem Senior Citizens.
She loved to crochet and knit, winning the Best of Show Blue Ribbon for her work at the Canfield Fair. She also enjoyed ceramics, winning first prize in ceramics at the Ohio State Fair. Her grandchildren, though, were her biggest prize.
Her husband, Joseph Batyski, whom she married Dec. 16, 1943, preceded her in death Dec. 31, 2012. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Lex Murray; two sisters, infant Betty Grace and Bernice Snyder; and one brother, Arnold Grace.
Beulah is survived by two daughters, Carole Murray of Salem and Susan (Jim) Bowman of Greenford; seven grandchildren, James (Pam) Murray Jr., Gregory (Mary) Murray, Eric (Holly) Murray, Jason (Kristy Quinn) Murray, Ty (Melissa) Bowman, Darrin (Angie) Bowman and Jamie (Kasey) Shidel; and 23 grandchildren, Lex, Zach, Allie, Victoria, Callie, Sam, Annika, Chaya, Lincoln, Gabe, Laila, Chad, Levi, Seth, Lane, Olivia, Lee, Christian, Ethan, Luke, Elijah, Aubrey and Annalise.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Robert Edwards officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Stark Memorial Funeral Home. A prayer vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
