EAST PALESTINE - N. June Strawn, 88, formerly of North James Street, died at 5:53 a.m. Wednesday at the Covington Community Campus where she had been a resident.
Born July 6, 1926, in Wetzel County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Jesse L. and Rosamond P. Daugherty Sands.
Prior to her retirement, she had been employed with the American Heart Association as a fund raiser, as well as in public relations.
Her husband, J. Edward Strawn, whom she married Sept. 20, 1944, preceded her in death on April 17, 2014.
Survivors include three daughters, Judy Starrett of Grove City, Juanita L. Reeves of New Waterford and Kathryn S. Zartman of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; three sons, Michael Strawn of Homeworth, Robert Strawn of East Palestine and Jeffrey Strawn of Columbia, Tenn,; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Iris J. Watson of Florida and Rosemary Peterson of Boone, N.C.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home with Mike Kodrich officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
The family has asked that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the National Wildlife Association or the American Heart Association.
