SALEM - Patsy "Pat" Nocera, 89, of Salem, died at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Courtyard at Lexington.
He was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Salem, Ohio, son of the late Carmelo and Theresa (Guzzo) Nocera.
Pat was a purchasing agent at American Standard, retiring in 1990 with 45 years of service. He was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church and a 1942 graduate of Salem High School. Pat was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member and past exalted ruler of the Salem Elks Lodge #305.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the 9th Infantry Division. He was wounded in action and received a Purple Heart.
His wife, Dorothy M. (Cromwell) Nocera, whom he married July 28, 1945, preceded him in death April 11, 2008.
A sister, Rosemary Miller and a brother, Joseph also preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia L. (Philip) Naples of Youngstown; a son, Michael B. (Sue) Nocera of Louisville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Robert) Brooks, Shawn Nocera, Daniel Nocera and Vanessa (Larry) Miller; and four great-grandchildren, Emma and Ellisa Nocera and Erica and Kasandra Miller.
A funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2014, at the St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Robert Edwards officiating.
Friends may call from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014, at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home. An Elks Service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery with military honors provided by the Salem Honor Guard.
