4-H members ready for fair

July 23, 2014
Salem News

Area 4-Hers waited in line with their carcass pig and sheep projects to be weighed-in at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds Tuesday. As soon as they are weighed in the animals are taken to Kiko's meats where they are slaughtered and then the projects are judged with the 4-Hers on Thursday. The kids bring their market animals for display to the fair on Sunday. Each 4-Her can have up to two carcass and two market animal projects. Laney Mercure, 10, of North Lima spends some time with her lamb, Prince Nevean, before the weigh-in. Hank McNicol of Leetonia hoists a bag of bedding onto his shoulder. He was preparing stalls for the market sheep. Monday is opening day at the fair. (Salem News photos by Patti Schaeffer)
