Amateur radio testing technician through amateur extra begins at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Columbiana County Emergency Management Agency. Registration begins at 1 p.m.
BC Wildlife Ed Center offering workshop
EAST LIVERPOOL - The Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center will host a fun family-oriented water quality workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, presented by Kathy Cattrell and Jim Kerr.
Participants will assist in collecting and identifying macroinvertebrates from Beaver Creek. Other water quality tests will be completed as well.
Participants should meet by the iron bridge down in the park, and wear boots or old shoes if they want to get in the stream to help collect samples. Visit beavercreekwildlife.org for more information.
Raffle benefits Mullins Alumni Scholarship
SALEM - Members of Hannah E. Mullins School of Practical Nursing Alumni will sell raffle tickets for the alumni scholarship fund from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Giant Eagle.
The raffle drawing will be held Aug. 6. The winner need not be present.
Blossom hosting community yard sale
SALEM - A community yard sale at will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mattevi memorial dinner will be held
SALEM - A memorial dinner for Victor Mattevi will be held during the Banquet in Salem from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building, 785 E. State St. The menu offers fried chicken, red-skinned potatoes, peas or corn, cole slaw, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and ice cream sundaes.

Women's Club presenting 'Gender Wars'
COLUMBIANA - The July Lunch and Learn Program, the fourth in the Columbiana Women's Club series, will be held July 21 with a picnic luncheon at noon at the club.

Breakfast planned at Winona Fire Station
WINONA - The public is invited to an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast and open house from 7 to 11 a.m. Aug. 9 at the Winona Fire Station.
Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 3 to 10 and free for under 3. Proceeds will be used to purchase fire equipment.
Wine tasting dinner cruise scheduled
COLUMBIANA - Seats are still available for a wine tasting dinner cruise on Oct. 4 sponsored by Columbiana Area Meals on Wheels. Cost is $100 which is due by Aug. 15.

Library offering service for the homebound
SALEM - Salem Public Library is offering a new service for free delivery of materials to homebound persons living within the Salem City School District.
If you or someone you know are homebound due to illness or disability the library is interested making arrangements for regular delivery of a variety of library materials for the homebound person's enjoyment. New business seminar planned July 24
SALEM -The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Kent State-Tuscarawas campus and the Ohio Small Business Development Center will host a session on how to start a new business from 1 to 3 p.m. July 24 in the chamber's conference room.

Firestone Festival of Art is Aug. 2
COLUMBIANA - The Harvey S. Firestone Park Festival of the Arts will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 2 at Firestone Park.
There will be a wide variety of juried arts and crafts offered by local and regional artisans as well as antique dealers, food concessions and a farmers market.
A steam engine and antique tractor display will be a new addition to this year's attractions.
Performances throughout the day will include Kathy Boswell on the bagpipes, Kim VanKleeck, God's Quad and The Dulci-Mores.
This event is sponsored by the Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce with proceeds benefiting various projects within Firestone Park.
Memorial breakfast, trap shoot is Aug. 2
SALEM - The Salem Hunting Club is hosting the 11th annual Lowell Iden Memorial Scholarship Fund breakfast and trap shoot on Aug. 2.
All proceeds are used solely for the scholarship fund. This year's winners are Kathryn Zeppernick and Sydney Spencer, both of Salem, who each received $500.
The day's events include a 50/50 raffle, Chinese auction that includes multiple gift baskets and an all-you-can-eat breakfast served from 7 to 11 a.m. Cost is $5.
A full day of trap shooting runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for $4 per round. A limited supply of shotgun shells will be available for purchase.
At noon, various items including desserts will be available to purchase from the lunch menu. Gift baskets or cash donations and raffle ticket purchases may be handled through Janet Iden at 330-332-5765.
'Salem's Got Talent' will be held Aug. 30
SALEM - "Salem's Got Talent," set for 5:30 p.m. Aug. 30, is a fundraiser to benefit the Salem Memorial Building and the many programs and services it provides.
Separate acts will perform for five to 10 minutes on the gym stage at the Memorial Building and will then be judged by the audience.
The fans will vote in the form of a monetary donation which will go to the Salem Memorial Building Association.
The contestant(s) with the most votes will be crowned champion.
Tickets to the event are $20 and include a buffet dinner from Catered Affair consisting of a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, vegetable, pasta, salad, rolls, dessert and drink.
