Antique Tractor Assoc. to meet Thursday
NORTH GEORGETOWN- The Columbiana County Antique Tractor Association will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the North Georgetown Fire Hall. The next antique tractor pull will be at 5 p.m. July 19 at the Mile Branch Grange, 495 Knox School Road, Alliance. There is no admission fee for the public. Women's Club offers scholarship
COLUMBIANA- The Columbiana Women's Club is offering a financial award to non-traditional female students who currently reside in the Crestview or Columbiana school districts and have graduated from Columbiana, Crestview or Heartland Christian School at least 10 years prior to the current year. An applicant must present proof of being a current student at a post-secondary institution, provide the names of two references (not members of the applicant's family) who will be contacted by the CWC Award Committee and write a cover letter of not more than 500 words describing why she is deserving of this award.
Deadline for the application is Sept. 1, with notification of the award by Sept. 30. Upon presentation of the receipt for books, materials, uniforms or technology, the student will receive her Columbiana Women's Club Post-Secondary Award.

Applications must include a cover letter containing the applicant's name, address, telephone number and email address, and which presents in fewer than 500 words why she should be selected for the award; a copy of diploma or verification of graduation from Columbiana, Crestview or Heartland Christian; a copy of class schedule or tuition payment for upcoming school year at a post-secondary school; and names, addresses and telephone numbers of two personal references who have agreed to be contacted by the selection committee.
Estate and retirement workshop offered
COLUMBIANA- CLA Estate Services will be hosting a free workshop that will provide valuable information for seniors on securing one's estate and retirement planning from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 16 at Das Dutch Haus Restaurant & Bakery. Guests will receive a workbook and information regarding the pros and cons of wills and trusts, how to avoid probate, long-term health care concerns, and tax reduction planning. Seating is limited. Salem 1953 to meet for lunch July 10
SALEM- The Salem High School Class of 1953 will meet for lunch at noon July 10 at the Skyline Diner.
Salem 2016 shoe drive collections set
SALEM- The Salem High School Class of 2016 shoe drive will continue with collections scheduled at the Arby's Cruise on Aug. (rain date Aug. 16) and and Shoe Fly By from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. at Family Video. Drop boxes are still located at the Salem Community Center, the UPS Store, ARC (inside screened porch), The Red Hen, and now the Salem Computer Center. Organizing Collaborative to hold town hall
CARROLLTON- The Ohio Organizing Collaborative (OOC) Communities United for Responsible Energy (CURE) is hosting a town hall meeting where residents can get information about how to protect themselves during the shale drilling boom from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 10 at the Church of Christian Disciples, 353 Moody Ave. It is free and all are welcome to attend.
Attorneys Emily Collins and Dave Armstrong of Fair Shake Environmental Legal Services will be on hand to address landowners' concerns while Spencer Wells, community manager for the Rental Housing Information Network in Ohio (RHINO), will address the concerns of the rental community.
Farmers Bank to host giving campaigns
CANFIELD- Farmers National Bank will conduct multiple giving campaigns in July.
The bank will hold a Diaper Drop in which customers can drop off packages of diapers at any branch office all month. The drop is a partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley which will distribute the diapers to local families.
The bank's Southern District including Salem, Columbiana and Damascus, is also hosting a "cash and can" drive for Second Harvest Food Bank and Animal Charities now through July 11.
Additionally the bank is giving $1 to Akron Children's Hospital in Boardman for every new follower in July to the bank's new Twitter account. Simply follow @farmersbnkgroup and use the hastag #FarmersTagalong to share with friends. The campaign runs until 5 p.m. July 31.
Salem hospital plans blood drive
SALEM- To help meet the blood needs of area patients, Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is sponsoring an American Red Cross blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 9 in the hospital's tower conference rooms 1 and 2, located on SRMC's new ground floor concourse. Donors are encouraged to park in SRMC's new parking deck, which offers direct access to the concourse. Salem 1951 breakfast changed to July 9
SALEM- The Salem High School Class of 1951 breakfast has been changed to 9 a.m. July 9 at the Skyline Diner. The breakfast will return to its regular schedule in August.
Shoots set at Fish & Game Club
LISBON- The Columbiana County Fish & Game Club on Middle Beaver Road will host a series of shoots this summer including a Service Rifle Shoot at 6 p.m. July 24, Long Range 22lr Rifle Shoot at 6 p.m. July 31 and Service Rifle Shoots at 6 p.m. Aug. 21 and 28. Shooters must bring eye and ear protection and their own ammunition. Any rifle can be used for the Service Rifle Shoot that was used by any country prior to 1955.
