SALEM- The school board in special session Friday morning approved fiscal year end appropriations and hired a junior high administrator.
The board approved the final amended official certificate of estimated resources and final appropriations for fiscal year 2014 and temporary appropriations for fiscal year 2015. Treasurer Jim Wilson said that the total will not be official until after June 30, but that they remain on par with the five-year forecast. The board authorized Wilson to make any additions or subtractions as needed.
The board also approved the transfer of $75,000 from the general fund to the high school athletic account.
In other business the board hired Todd McLaughlin as dean of students/clerk of works for the junior high. His two-year contract effective Aug. 1 is for $60,000 annually for 225 days per contract year and per diem during July of this year at $33.33 per hour.
A graduate of Salem High School, McLaughlin had previously been a teacher in the West Branch school district.
The board also hired retroactive to June 2 Nick Deville and Larry Goontz as summer help for the tech department and amended the contract for bus mechanic Gary Bayda to start one month later on Aug. 1 and continue for the same length as previously approved.
