HANOVERTON- The United school board Wednesday night approved several personnel moves including the creation of a new teaching position.
The board approved an Eagles Nest Online coordinator position and hired Alyssa Gwirtz to fill it. The position is intended to coordinate and develop the online school for the district.
The board also hired as teachers Ashley Shea, first grade; Abigail Walkama, first grade; Valerie Kidder, intervention specialist; Corey Hill, high school science; Danielle Burch, high school social studies; and Katie Miller, one-year elementary music.
Additionally the board approved supplemental contracts for the 2014-2015 school year for Ryan Burd, assistant athletic director; Lucinda Neiswanger, high school choir, junior high choir and play director; Kristine Urmson, FCCLA advisor; Betty Whiteleather, high school student council, junior class advisor, sophomore advisor, freshman class advisor, Ruriteen advisor and Community Outreach; Lynn Linsley, senior class; Sonya Sadler, assistant band director; Kathryn Matthews, high school art; Stacey Zines, high school SAP coordinator; Lindsay Brothers, yearbook advisor; Nome Baker, marching band and pep band; Krista Fitch, T.V. studio; Jason Minard, percussion instructor; Dawn Crawford, Positive Behavior Support; Rosalyn Hardgrove, National Honor Society; Lindsay Brothers, Spanish Club advisor; Noleen Moore, Key Club advisor; Christine Martin, majorette/flag advisor; Jake Kilroy, Academic Challenge advisor; Megan Gozelanczyk, junior high Academic Challenge advisor and assistant cross country; Jackie Sanor, ASL advisor; Renee Congo, varsity football cheerleading; Miranda Sanor, ninth-grade cheerleading; Victoria Adams, junior high cheerleading; and Danielle Burch, varsity cross country.
The board also accepted the supplemental resignation of Stacey Zines as varsity football cheerleading advisor, hired as a summer student worker Emily Reinsel, bus helper and approved as summer intervention teachers Todd Sarchet, OGT intervention coordinator; Kenny Beaumariage, OGT math; Ryan Burd, OGT reading/writing; Megan Gozelanczyk, OGT science; and Danielle Burch, OGT citizenship.
In other business the board renewed its rental contract for the Columbiana County Community Action Agency Head Start Program to use a Brautigam Center classroom for the upcoming school year.
The board also accepted donations of $500 from the United PTO for Turn it in.com, $250 from PTO for the Student Council Honors Banquet, $130 from PTO to the eighth-grade class Washington D.C. trip fund, $192.40 from the sophomore class to the class of 2016, $200 from PTO for giftcards for the Battle of the Books winners and $1,193.75 redeemed from Boxtops for Education from PTO to the elementary principal's fund; and approved the final amended official certificate of estimated resources and final appropriations for fiscal year 2014.
Additionally the board approved a youth soccer camp July 14 through 18, boys basketball youth camp June 11 and 12 and girls basketball youth camp June 16 through 20, with all proceeds to go toward their respective programs.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. July 16 in the high school library.
