Damascus Historical Society to meet
DAMASCUS - The Damascus Area Historical Society will host its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. today in the Pearce House meeting room. The topic of this meeting is finding new members.
Wednesday Night Bingo set at Saxon Club
SALEM - Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday for the Wednesday Night Bingo at the Saxon Club, 1980 state Route 9. Early bird games start at 6:30 p.m.
The kitchen will be open featuring pork dinners, hot dogs, coney dogs, sloppy joes, assorted desserts and free coffee.
Proceeds will be directed to the Saxon Club Scholarship Fund which benefits youth from the entire area, not just Salem. For more information contact Annette Jermolenko at 234-564-5964.
Alliance Balsa Bees plan dawn patrol
ALLIANCE - The Alliance Balsa Bees will present its third annual World War I aircraft dawn patrol over Alliance from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The flying field is at the northeast end of Barber Airport, three miles north of Alliance off Route 225.
The aircraft are replicas of all WWI aircraft/ranging from 2-12 feet wing span. There will be several different flying demonstrations throughout the day. All planes will be lined up on the field at noon so visitors can look at them and ask questions. Visitors can then vote on their favorite plane. Tickets will be given to spectators when they arrive. The winning pilot of the aircraft will receive the People's Choice trophy. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Onsite restrooms are available.
Breakfast set Saturday at Saxon Club
SALEM - The public is invited to an all-you-can eat breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Saxon Club, 1980 Newgarden Ave.
The menu offers sausage gravy and biscuits, bacon, sausage links, eggs, hash browns, pancakes and waffles, and fresh fruit, and beverages. Cost is $6 for adults.
'Shrek' to open on Stage Left stage
LISBON - Stage Left Players will present the family musical comedy, "Shrek the Musical" at 7 p.m. June 20, 21, 27 and 28 and 2 p.m. June 22 and 29 at the Trinity Playhouse, 234 E. Lincoln Way. Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Fiddle, mountain dulcimer players needed
EAST LIVERPOOL - The Friends of Beaver Creek State Park are seeking fiddle and mountain dulcimer players to participate in a fun Fiddle and Dulcimer Contest on July 5 at the Pioneer Village. The contests are part of the monthly "Bring the Village Alive" event which offers special programs on the first Saturday of each month May through October. Church Women United plans clothing aid
SALEM - Church Women United is again hosting its back-to-school clothing sign-ups at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Education Building, 251 S. Broadway Ave.
The program is open to children of low-income families residing in the Salem School District who are entering Head Start through eighth grade this fall. The parent/guardian is required to bring two proofs of income and residency, the child's name, age, birth date and school grade.
Sign-ups will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. July 23 and 24; from 9 a.m. to noon and 3 to 6 p.m. July 25; and 1 to 3 and 4 to 6 p.m. July 31. Childcare is not provided.
