Bass fishing tourney is Saturday
SALEM - A bass fishing tournament is slated from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Salem City Lake. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third-place.
The entry fee is $20 in advance and $25 on tournament day. Checks may be made payable to the Salem Memorial Building and mailed or dropped off to the Memorial Building, 785 E. State St., Salem, Ohio 44460. For more information call Shane Franks at 330-332-5512.
Flag disposal ceremony planned
CANFIELD - A flag disposal ceremony begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Mahoning Veterans Memorial (MVM) at the Canfield Fairgrounds.

County Beekeepers will meet
LEETONIA - The Columbiana and Mahoning County Beekeepers' next meeting begins at 2 p.m. Sunday at the home of Chris Blair, 4836 Woodville Road, Leetonia.
A potluck lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Attendees are reminded to bring a lawn chair.
Grande Parade scheduled Aug. 9
SALEM - The Salem Grande Parade steps out at 6 p.m. Aug. 9. This year's parade is titled "The Dog Days of Summer." Clubs, organizations, churches, and businesses are asked to decorate appropriately for this specific parade theme. Special emphasis will be paid to Vietnam veterans during the annual military salute that has become a tradition in the parade line-up.

Sebring among Head Start sites
SEBRING - Enrollment for the 2014-15 school year is under way for Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership's (MYCAP) Head Start/Early Head Start Program. Classes are scheduled to begin Sept. 8. MYCAP will have nine Head Start locations throughout Mahoning County, including five sites in Youngstown and sites in Austintown, Boardman, Campbell and Sebring.

Head Start is a federal program that promotes the school readiness of children 6 weeks to 5 years old. It provides a learning environment that supports children's growth in language and literacy, general knowledge, physical development and health, and social and emotional development.
Arts and Crafts in the Park set
SALEM - Arts and Crafts in the Park will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 28 at Centennial Park. This year's event includes raffles, 50/50 drawings and a free children's craft program. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Canfield Fair tickets available
CANFIELD - Ticket sales at the Canfield Fair Administration Building box office and on the fair's website (canfieldfair.com) began June 9.
The fair welcomes Reba for a return visit at 8 p.m. Aug. 31 along with opening act The Willis Clan.
The Monday, Sept. 1 grandstand show will feature Justin Moore, with special guest Randy Houser. Additional events take place in the grandstand and on the fairgrounds every day of the fair:

Flag Day observance scheduled
SALEM - The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Salem Lodge #305, is holding its annual observance of Flag Day at 7 p.m. Thursday in the lodge room at 824 E. State St.
The public is invited to the ceremony with Brad Stevens, director of the Salem Public Library, as the lead speaker. The event includes flag displays, presentation of colors by Boy Scout Troop #2 and refreshments.
