Salem News

- A deputy was called to the Salem hospital at 4:38 a.m. Friday for a report of an assault. A woman and her live-in friend said they had been assaulted by the friend's boyfriend, who had been in an argument with her while he was drinking heavily. The friend said her boyfriend pushed her to the ground and kicked her and the woman said when she attempted to get him off her he began to swing at her and hit her in the face, and after that she struck him in the face in self-defense, possibly breaking his nose. Injuries were visible on both of the women and the boyfriend, who had a damaged nose and bloody lip. The women refused to press charges.
