Columbiana County Democrats to meet LISBON — The Columbiana County Democrat Committee meeting begins at 7 p.m. today at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center. For more information call Patty Colian at 330-831-2169. Steak fry set at Columbiana Legion COLUMBIANA — The public is invited to a steak fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at American Legion Post 290. Day of Memory set at United High HANOVERTON — A Day of Memory begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at United High School’s Memorial Garden in front of the auditorium. On this date, United students who have passed away during their school years at United will be remembered. Salem Seniors to meet May 28 SALEM — Salem Senior Citizens will meet on May 28 at the Memorial Building. The board meeting begins at 11 a.m. followed by the regular meeting at noon. Lunch will be served after the board meeting. Ninety-year-old members will be honored with entertainment provided. Board of Elections sets tentative meeting LISBON — The Columbiana County Board of Elections will tentatively meet in regular session at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the board office located at 7989 Dickey Drive, Suite 3. The 1:30 p.m. time is contingent upon having the certified results of 17 other counties from within the Sixth Congressional District. If something delays or prohibits another county from certifying their results to the board by 1:30 p.m., the time will be pushed back. Mill Creek Park road closings planned YOUNGSTOWN — The following roads in Mill Creek Park will be closed to vehicular traffic as well as cyclists and pedestrians from approximately 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday for the YMCA Memorial 5 Mile Run. The roads include East Glacier Drive, Memorial Hill Drive, West Glacial Drive and Price Road. Nursing school to hold enrollment meeting SALEM — Hannah E. Mullins School of Practical Nursing is holding an informational enrollment meeting at 2 p.m. May 29 in the Kent State University City Center, 230 N. Lincoln Ave., third floor. Habitat ReStore tool sale planned May 31 SALEM — Habitat for Humanity ReStore of Northern Columbiana County will be hold its annual “under the tents” tool sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 31 at 1965 N. Ellsworth Ave. For more information call 330-337-4808. Rummage sale set at Smith Center June 7 SALEM — The public is invited to a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 7 at the Smith Center. All proceeds go to help the Smith Center residents. Camp Fire plans youth fishing day SALINEVILLE — Camp Fire is sponsoring a youth fishing day from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 21 at Camp Tayanita, 35129 Hull Road. Children ages 8 to 14 do not need to be a member of Camp Fire to attend. Attendance is free, but reservations are required by June 9. Fishing gear is available to use and lunch will be provided. All youth must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations may be made by calling 330-385-0645. Camp Frederick 5k Race, Fun Walk set ROGERS — The second annual Camp Frederick Wilderness 5k Race and Fun Walk begins at 8 a.m. May 31at Camp Frederick, 6996 Millrock Road. Salem Library plans pet photo contest SALEM — Salem Public Library is sponsoring a pet photo contest from June 2-14. Entry forms and contest rules are available at library circulation desks and online at The contest is open to all ages. Contest photos will be exhibited in the adult circulation department June 16-28 to allow patrons to vote for their favorite photos. First and second-place winners will be chosen by the voting public. Workshop on genealogy scheduled LEETONIA— Linda McElroy, president of the Columbiana County Archives and Research Center, will present a workshop on genealogy from 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 9 at the Leetonia Community Public Library. Call the library at 330-427-6635 to sign up for the program. Leetonia Library reading program set LEETONIA— The Leetonia Community Public Library’s summer reading program begins June 10. People of all ages have the opportunity to read, participate in various events and programs, earn points and have some fun. Children will have a weekly program at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays; several crafts to make; the LEGO movie to attend with prizes every week. For teens and adults, each return of a library book or visit to a program will get a ticket for a prize drawing for a gift basket.
