'Princess and Pea' set at Dixon Elementary
COLUMBIANA - Fourth-grade students at Dixon Elementary will present their spring musical, "The Princess and the Pea," at 7 p.m. today in the all-purpose room. The event is free and open to the public.
Middle School choir concert planned
COLUMBIANA - Members of the fifth through eighth grade choirs at South Side Middle School will present their spring choral concert at 7 p.m. Thursday in the high school auditorium. Admission is free to the public.
Ham featured at Thursday Banquet
SALEM Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Allison will sponsor the Fourth Thursday Banquet in Salem from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Salem Memorial Building. July bus trip to Washington planned
SALEM - Attila Samu, choral and handbell director for the First Christian Church of Salem, is working with Premier Travel Company to organize and offer a bus trip to Washington D.C. on July 3-5.
Participants will board the bus from the church parking lot and depart from Salem at 11 p.m. July 3, travel all night on the motor coach with rest stops made enroute and arrive in Washington early on July 4 to the first stop at Arlington Cemetery. There will be a guided bus tour of the National Cemetery, Tomb of the Unknown, President Kennedy's gravesite and the Custis-Lee Mansion. Other sites are also available.
Departure from Washington is at the conclusion of the fireworks celebration with return to Salem at approximately 7 a.m. July 5.

Dulci-More Festival 20 set this weekend
LISBON - Dulci-More Festival 20 is slated on Memorial Day weekend, May 23-25, at Camp McKinley, 37748 Furnace Road. Concerts all three days run from 7 to 9:15 p.m. and folk music workshops and mini-concerts will be held from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Presenters include national, regional, and local folk and dulcimer musicians including many favorites from 20 years at this festival. Activities include evening concerts; mini-concerts during meal times; over 60 workshops for beginners to advanced for mountain and hammered dulcimers, guitar, ukulele, autoharp, harp, fiddle, etc.; workshops appropriate for children included; open stages; hymn/gospel/spiritual sing; song circles; jamming; vendors; food; primitive camping; and more. Friday evening concert: Stephen Seifert from Chattanooga, Tenn., a mountain dulcimer specialist who regularly solos with symphony orchestras and Mark Alan Wade, the 1998 hammered dulcimer national champion who is now an assistant professor of music (including a bluegrass program) at Dennison University.
Saturday evening concert: Dan Landrum from Signal Mountain, Tenn., the editor and publisher of Dulcimer Players News and has toured extensively as a soloist with Yanni and Bing Futch from Orlando, Fla., a singer/songwriter and mountain dulcimer, native American flute, and ukulele specialist who can become a one man juke box as he adds technology to the traditional.
Sunday evening concert: Mustard's Retreat (David Tamulevich and Michael Hough) from Ann Arbor, Mich. who are celebrating 40 years of performing together as singer/songwriters with a variety of instruments and Bob Zentz from Norfolk, Va., a singer/songwriter and master of dozens of instruments (strings, winds, squeezeboxes, percussion, etc.) joined by Jeanne MacDougall.
Registration for full weekend is $35/person, additional $5 covers all children in family; $10/person and $2 for children for each evening concert; $8/$2 for daytime only on Saturday or Sunday; or $15/$2 for either Saturday or Sunday daytime plus evening concert.
EP Memorial Day bike parade planned
EAST PALESTINE - The East Palestine Rotary Club will sponsor the annual Memorial Day bike parade on May 26. Contestants are encouraged to decorate their bikes in a red, white and blue theme. Prizes will be given to first and second-place winners. Each contestant will receive a prize.
The contest is divided into four age groups: preschool and kindergarten, first and second grade, third and fourth grade and fifth and sixth grade.
Contestants should be at the parking lot of the First Church of Christ prior to the parade. Judging begins at 10:30 a.m. After the judging the contestants will join in the annual Memorial Day parade to the East Palestine Park.
Lifesize Candyland set at EP Street Fair
EAST PALESTINE - At the this year's annual East Palestine Street Fair, the East Palestine Rotary Roadrunners, as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, will sponsor a lifesize Candyland at 31 N. Market St. Candyland is located inside and held rain or shine.
A wide variety of gift basket raffles is available. Tickets are $1, 10 for $5 or 30 for $10. The drawing will be held at the Relay For Life event July 12 at Crestview High School.
The fee to "play in Candyland" and participate in the challenges is $6 which includes six prizes and a change to win the grand prize.
Candyland is open from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. All proceeds from the sale of items and participation in the Candyland challenges go to the American Cancer Relay For Life.
Events planned at Salem Hunting Club
SALEM - Proceeds from this weekend's events at the Salem Hunting Club (SHC) will be used to raise money for local conservation efforts.
On Saturday, the SHC provides everything required except eye and ear protection to participate in Lord of the Range. Nine stages test your skills using compound bows, throwing knives, slingshots, rifles and pistols on moving and stationary targets. Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three scorers. Lunch is provided. The entry fee is $30.
