SALEM - Edwin "Ed" R. Dangler Sr., 87, of Salem, died at 3:25 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at the Essex of Salem III.
He was born May 17, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pa.
Ed retired from J. Herbert Construction where he worked for many years and had previously been a self-employed carpenter. He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
His wife, Loretta Edna (Kraus) Dangler, whom he married April 20, 1945, preceded him in death May 1, 2000. A daughter, Patricia D. Gray; two brothers; and a sister also preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Edwin R. (Paula) Dangler Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, and Michael A. (Lorena) Dangler of Salem; a brother, Robert (Phyllis) Dangler of Tampa, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at the Hope Cemetery Chapel with Father Steve Wassie officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery with military services provided by the Salem Honor Guard.
