COLUMBIANA - Betty J. Rowley, 84, of Whispering Pines, formerly of New Waterford and East Palestine, died at 6:09 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Boardman Campus.
She was born Sept. 10, 1929 in Negley, a son of the late Roy John "Ish" and Antoinette Lucille DePillo Gribben, and was a lifelong resident of the area. Prior to her retirement several years ago, she had been employed as a waitress with the former Edith's Pizza as well as Lynch's Plaza Restaurant.
She was a member of the Believer's Christian Fellowship of Salem.
Her husband, Robert L. Rowley Sr., whom she married Sept. 22, 1950, preceded her in death on March 29, 1988.
She is survived by a son, Rev. Robert L. (Tammy) Rowley of Salem; and two daughters, Teresa Champoux of Columbiana, and Lisa Rowley of Boardman. She also leaves four grandchildren, two great grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Leister of Pennsylvania, and two brothers, Roy G. Gribben of East Palestine, and Robert D. Gribben of Florida.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, East Palestine, with the Rev. Dennis Heber officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
