Salem News

North Georgetown firefighters responded to the 100 block of Westville Lake Road at 2:15 a.m. Saturday and found the RPI Designs fiberglass plant fully engulfed in flames, according to Fire Chief Ed Reichenbach. There were no injuries. The state fire marshal was on the scene Saturday morning. No cause has been determined. The 8,000-square foot plant makes plastic aftermarket auto parts for cars like Corvettes. It is insured. Six other fire departments responded including Homeworth, Beloit, Sebring, Winona, Washington Township and Damascus. Reichenbach said the fire was under control in about 40 minutes. Firefighters returned later Saturday morning to deal with hot spots. No damage estimate was available. According to the company website, RPI Designs, LLC was founded in March 1998. The current shop was listed as 8,000-plus square feet. The website says there are 13 full-time team members producing Corvette and Camaro parts. (Salem News photo by Patti Schaeffer)
