LEETONIA - Harold "Bud" Hawkins, 87, of Lisbon Rod, died at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, at Essex II of Salem following a recent illness.
Mr. Hawkins was born July 22, 1926 in East Township, Carroll County, Ohio, a son of the late Lawrence and Pearl (Lee) Hawkins, and had lived in the Lisbon area most of his life.
Bud worked as a station engineer for Columbia Gas at the Brinker Station for over 40 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Hawkins served our country as a member of the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany as a member of the Counter Intelligence Corps, until he was discharged in 1947.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary (Martin) Hawkins, whom he married Dec. 16, 1949; sister, Dorothy Cole of Kensington, and brother, Robert Hawkins of Canal Fulton.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark R. Wilds officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon Monday at the funeral home.
