Storybook Museum's yard sale canceled
SALEM The Salem Storybook Museum's yard sale on Thursday and Friday has been canceled due to inclement weather. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 8 and 9 on the corner of South Lincoln Avenue and Columbia Street.
EP Band students to hold flower sale
EAST PALESTINE - East Palestine Band students will hold their annual flower sale in association with Sutherin Greenhouse this year just in time for Mother's Day. Students will be taking orders for $20 gift certificates from May 1-8. The gift certificates will be available from band students on May 9. Columbiana Library offers e-Book help
COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana Public Library is offering an e-Book drop-in help session from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Salchow Room. The library purchases e-Books from two companies, Ohio Digital Library and Overdrive and Freading. Attendees are to bring their device, power cord, the cord to link it to a computer, library card and account logins for Adobe and Amazon.
Salem to mark Day of Prayer Thursday
SALEM - The eighth annual National Day of Prayer gathering begins at noon Thursday on the Village Green at the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce on the corner of State Street and Lincoln Avenue. This year's theme is "One Nation, United in Prayer."
The 50-minute program includes a proclamation for the city of Salem, flag presentations and a pledge, musical selections, but most of all Scriptures and prayers (by clergy and laypersons) for government, military, media, business, education, church, and family.
'Summer Sendoff Soiree' planned at KSU?EL
EAST LIVERPOOL - Kent State University at East Liverpool will hold a "Summer Sendoff Soiree" on Thursday, May 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday. The festival was organized by Kent State's student government and Art Council in order to celebrate the end of the semester and to raise money for the Nign family, who suffered a grave tragedy earlier this year.
The event is free and open to the public, Kent State students as well as community members are encouraged to attend and to bring their families. A variety of activities have been planned for the festival including, a chalk art contest, photo booth, bungee cord run, joust station, a cotton candy machine and live music from local bands. Snow Diddley, Jippo, 2 Man Band and Keith Williams have agreed to play at the event. There will also be free food and drinks for individuals with a Kent State ID. Charity garage sale planned in Salem
SALEM - A charity garage sale will be held at 1097 Jones Drive, Salem, in remembrance of Glenn Peison who lost his life to cancer in December 2013 and Olivia Thompson who lost her life in a tragic car accident in November 2012.
The public is invited to the sale from 8:30 to 5 p.m. June 26 and 27. One hundred percent of the funds raised will go to Transformations, a non-profit charity directed by Jane Peachey, to support children and adults dealing with grief of any type. A free, overnight, children's grief camp will be held this summer at Camp Frederick in Rogers. Activities include wall climbing, yoga, arts and crafts, white-water rafting, swimming, archery and much more.

Breakfast offered at Salem Hunting Club
SALEM - The Salem Hunting Club is serving its monthly all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The menu includes eggs, pancakes, bacon, potatoes, toast, orange juice and hot beverages. Cost is $5. Club officers will be on hand to answer questions about membership and activities.
