Salem Community Center plans 10K, 2-mile runs April 26
SALEM - The Salem Community Center (SCC) is hosting 10K and 2-mile races on April 26. Pre-register by 8 a.m. on race day at the SCC. Both races start at the SCC, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave. The two-mile race starts at 9 a.m. and the 10K begins at 9:45 a.m. Awards will be given to first, second and third-place men and women in the 10K only. Kindergarten registration set at Sebring school
SEBRING - The Sebring Local School District will provide a full day kindergarten program beginning with the 2014-15 school year. All incoming kindergarten students must register at B.L. Miller Elementary School. Parents interested in registering their children should call 330-938-2025 now through the beginning of the school year in September.
To register your child, bring the following items: proof of child's birth date such as a birth certificate or passport, child's Social Security card, child's current immunization record, emergency contact information, and proof of residency (such as an energy bill with your current address, lease agreement, or mortgage statement).
Night at Races fundraiser planned at Salem Elks
SALEM - Salem Community Theatre will host the second annual Night at the Races fundraiser on May 3 at the Salem Elks Club, 824 E. State St. Tickets are $25 and include food, beer, pop, and the ability to bet on 10 horse races. Doors open at 6 p.m. and post time is 7 p.m. Throughout the evening there will also be basket raffles and a 50/50. The event is open to the public, ages 21 and older.
Horses in each of the first nine races may be purchased in advance. Horses are $10 or nine for $80. If your horse wins its race, you automatically win $25.
