Ladies' Night Out fundraiser set in Leetonia
LEETONIA- Leetonia's NOSB, Envirothon and Spain trip students are holding a Ladies' Night Out fundraiser to help pay for registration fees as well as funds to offset travel cost to Spain June 11 through 21. The event is scheduled for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the high school cafeteria. Admittance is free. The event will feature several independent sales consultants and local businesses promoting their products as Easter, Mother's Day and graduation approach. Some of the confirmed sales consultants include Pink Zebra, Scentsy, Avon, Mary Kay, Origami Owl, 31, Tupperware, Party Lite, Huckstar Hedgehogs, Jewelry by George and local tanning salons. There will also be a Chinese auction for which each vendor will donate an item.
Leetonia Library offers learning database
LEETONIA- The Leetonia Library won a full academic year subscription to the Lumos StepUpT Learning database. It was developed by expert teachers to help students in grades 3 through 8 improve their grades and succeed on standardized tests, and it is aligned with the Common Core state standards. For each grade level there are math and English language arts lessons, online workbooks and practice tests.
The database can be reached by going to the library's website at www.leetonialibrary.org and clicking on "databases." The first choice on the list is "Locally purchased by your library;" click there and the LumosStepUpT Program link can be seen. Create an account by setting up a user name and password.
Final Lenton fish fry set at Saxon Club
SALEM - The public is invited to the sixth and final Lenten fish fry this year from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Salem Saxon Club, 1980 Newgarden Road. Dinners include a choice of baked or fried ocean cod, or breaded pork chops, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce or cole slaw, homemade cake, coffee, tea, iced tea or punch. Cost is $11 for adults and $6 for children ages 6 to 12. Carryouts are available by calling 330-222-1770 after 4:30 p.m.
