COLUMBIANA Jess Raymond Gaskill, 89, of Columbiana, passed away at Saint Elizabeth Boardman Health Center Thursday afternoon, April 3.
Mr. Gaskill was born on June 14, 1924, in Columbiana, a son of Carl and Jamima (Lyons) Gaskill. He served his country during WWII by joining the Army, and earned a Purple Heart while stationed in Germany.
Jess married the former Janet Hurlburt Aug. 11, 1972 and owned and operated his own company, Gaskill Construction, until he was in his 70s.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; his children, Judy and her husband John, Raymond and his wife Robin, Russ and his wife Debbie, Wade, and Jock; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his sister Ailene of Pataskala, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana.
Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 290 of Columbiana at Columbiana Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Jess' memory to the charity of the donors' choice.
