SALEM - Denise Ann Herron Weingart, 51, of Salem, died at 1:28 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at home following a brave battle with cancer.
She was born May 14, 1962 in Salem, Ohio, a daughter of Denton L. and Marilyn A. (Stratton) Herron.
She was a 1980 Salem High School graduate and valedictorian. She graduated from the University of Akron Summa Cum Laude as a Registered Nurse and from Cleveland Marshall School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in Law. Denise was employed as an assistant prosecutor with the Columbiana County Prosecutors Office and formerly employed as an assistant prosecutor with the Medina County Prosecutors Office. She was also a former nursing supervisor at University Hospitals of Cleveland.
Denise was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Salem, where she was an organizer of the Big Back Yard and an executive board member of the ROC. She was also a board member and vice president of the Habitat for Humanity. More than anything, she loved spending time with her children.
Survivors include two sons, Jared Lee Weingart and Jacob Lee Weingart, both of Salem; father of the boys, Dwight Weingart of Bedford, Ohio; her parents, Denton and Marilyn Herron of Salem; a sister, Jennifer M. (John) Lesko of Salem; and a niece and nephew, Muirin and Zander Lesko.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Salem with the Rev. Dr. Meta Cramer officiating. Calling hours will be Thursday, April 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home and calling hours on Saturday at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery.
