Saxon Retirees to meet for lunch April 2
SALEM - The Saxon Retirees will meet on April 2 at the Saxon Club. Snacks will be served at 11:30 a.m., lunch at 12:30 p.m., followed by the business session. Reservations may be made by calling 330-533-5154 before March 27. Canceled reservations should also be called in.
Salem Historical Society seeking donations
SALEM - The Salem Historical Society is seeking donations for its spring sale to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 28 and 29. Desired items include Salem memorabilia, toys, china and glassware. Donated items must be clean and in good working condition. No clothing, TVs or electronics will be accepted.
Donations may be dropped off at the Dale Shaffer Library, 239 S. Lundy Ave., lower level parking lot entrance between 9 a.m. and noon Monday and Wednesday only. For more information call 330-337-8514.
Career event set at Beaver Local March 26
LISBON - Beaver Local High School's counseling department will hold a career event from 5 to 7:30 p.m. March 26 at the high school. Representatives of over 30 professions will be on hand to discuss career choices. Red Cross accepts donated vehicles
SALEM - The American Red Cross is continuing to accept donated cars. Proceeds go toward supporting the mission of the Red Cross: preventing and relieving suffering for people every day. The Red Cross also accepts trucks, vans, motorcycles, tractors, RVs, boats, jet skis, etc. To donate a vehicle visit Redcross.org/CarDonation or call the Red Cross at 330-392-2551.
Workplace Violence forum scheduled
COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Workplace Violence, Community Forum from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. April 7 at the Columbiana Public Library. This event is free, in part to a mini-grant by Ohio Attorney General, Mike DeWine.
Dottie Kane, VIP Family Violence Prevention Coalition coordinator, has organized this event to feature speakers: Susan Hawkins with CDJFS; Elaine Kloss of Christina House Legal Advocate services; Brenda Gray with Help Hotline Victim Advocates; Columbiana Police Chief Tim Gladis and herself. The VIP Family Violence Prevention Coalition offers Workplace Violence Prevention Training Programs and can assist in creating a Workplace Domestic Violence Prevention Policy, for additional information on other training opportunities contact Kane at 330-744-4244.
Each April, the Office for Victims of Crime helps communities throughout the country in its annual observance of National Crime Victims' Rights Week by promoting victims' rights and honoring crime victims and those who advocate on their behalf. National Crime Victims' Rights Week will be observed April 6-12 and the theme is "30 Years: Restoring the Balance of Justice."

Sophomore Night set at Career Center
LISBON - The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center's annual Sophomore Information Night is slated from 5 to 7 p.m. March 27. Current county sophomores and their parents are invited for a night of information and tours of the high school programs at the CCC&TC. Refreshments will be served and drawings held for door prizes and an iPad mini.
Student who sign-up to attend the CCC&TC for the 2014-15 school year by April 1 will be entered into a drawing to win one of two Samsung Chrome Book Tablets. This drawing will be held April 2.

BELOIT- The West Branch school board will meet in special session at 6 p.m. Monday in the high school conference room to interview prospective legal counsel.
Celebrate National Poetry Month marked
LEETONIA- Celebrate National Poetry Month at the Leetonia Community Public Library's "Pretzels, Popcorn, Punch and Poetry" at 6 p.m. April 22 at the library. The public is invited to bring an original poem of any style, rhyming or not, to share. Check out the website www.poets.org for ideas.
SR open enrollment open house set
BEAVER TWP. - The South Range Local School District will hold an open enrollment open house for all perspective students interested in attending South Range Local Schools for the 2014-2015 school year at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the K-12 complex.
The intent of the meeting will be to communicate the open enrollment process with parents and tour the K-12 complex. A question and answer session will be held as part of a general meeting starting at 6 p.m. in the K-12 complex auditorium. Parents and students are invited to attend this informational meeting, meet the administrative staff of each building and tour the school.
Applications will be available for those that still need them. Parents are asked to return the completed application along with the required documents in person to the South Range Board of Education.
