Dairy boosters to meet
NEW GARDEN - The Columbiana County Buckeye Dairy Boosters will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. March 25 at Pinky's Restaurant in New Garden. The business session follows at 12:30 p.m. Items of discussion include the spring trip, spring banquet and the 4-H Experience Day. Those wishing to promote the dairy industry are encouraged to attend.
Salem Ohio Day celebrated in Florida
NORTH?FORT?MYERS, Fla.- Salem Ohio Day of Southwest Florida was celebrated on Feb. 15 at Captain Fishbone's Dolphin Ballroom of the Shell Factory in North Fort Myers, Fla.
From a meager beginning of only eight Salem High School graduates in 2007, the celebration has grown to 145 in 2014. Numerous door prizes ranging from gift cards, hats, shirts, gift baskets, and first edition signed books were awarded. Hometown restaurants that offered special gift cards included Mike's Penn Grille Restaurant and Lounge, Annabell's Restaurant, Ricky's English Pub, Salem Hills Golf and Country Club and BB Rooners.
B.J. Abrams opened the program with the history of Salem Ohio Day of Southwest Florida and welcomed both new and old guests. Ray Esterly returned as emcee and recognized each graduating class by year. Eighty attendees were SHS graduates, representing classes from 1943 to 1981.
Robert Citino was the oldest SHS graduate in attendance. Bob Sebo spoke enthusiastically about numerous business endeavors, both current and future, that will enhance the future of Salem, Ohio, and its prominence in northeast Ohio. Doug Smith, SHS '66, created a unique Quaker Sam plaque which was donated as a gift and ultimately auctioned off to the highest bidder.
New committee members, Gary and B.J. Abrams, Joe and Judy Kozar, and Tim and Sue Dean, will plan Salem Ohio Day 2015.
Weingart Cousins mark birthdays, anniversaries
SALEM - Birthdays and anniversaries were observed when the Weingart Cousins breakfast group met recently at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club. Twelve attended. The next breakfast is April 8.
Alpha Iota DKG holds meeting
COLUMBIANA - The Alpha Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met on March 13 at the Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church in Wellsville. A slate of officers for 2014-16 was presented. The program was a service project for Meals on Wheels.
The next meeting is April 8 at the Columbiana Public Library.
Seven and One Club meets
SALEM - Members of the Seven and One Club met for dinner on Feb. 26 at the Links in Columbiana. They then visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Hively where they looked through several albums containing photos of the club's 50-year history. The Hivelys presented everyone in attendance with a flowering plant in honor of the club's 50th anniversary.
On Wednesday evening, members played cards at Mrs. Ken Kaufman's home. Mrs. Keith Kesler was a guest. Prizes were won by Mrs. Hively, first place; Mrs. Larry Dearth, second; Mrs. Fred Weingart, low; and Mrs. Gerald Mincks, travel. In honor of Mrs. Mincks' birthday, the hostess served a decorated birthday cake for dessert.
The next club meeting begins at 7 p.m. April 16 at the home of Mrs. Herb Bott.
DARE?releases April activity schedule
BOARDMAN - Divorce/Death Aren't Really the End (DARE) meets at 7:30 p.m. every Thursday at the Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road.

ACH Auxiliary sponsoring Tupperware sale
ALLIANCE - The Alliance Community Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring a Tupperware sale fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 27 and 28 in the hospital's cafe. Proceeds will benefit the auxiliary which raises funds for special needs for the hospital, gives three annual scholarships and pays the salary of the shuttle vehicle driver.
