EAST PALESTINE - Jerry D. Selby, 69, of 285 West Street, died at 9:22 p.m. Monday at the Salem Regional Medical Center, where he had been a patient for several days.
Mr. Selby was born Feb. 9, 1945 in Salem, a son of the late Chester and Dorothy Huffman Selby, and was a lifelong resident of the community. He had been employed as a custodian with the East Palestine School District, for 27 years, retiring in 2004, and had also held the same position with the former PNC Bank and its predecessors. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death on Feb. 28, 1999, by his wife, the former Jody L. Sankovich, whom he married Nov. 15, 1968, as well as a brother Richard G. Selby.
Mr. Selby is survived by a daughter, Terri L. Amos of East Palestine, and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
