West Branch presenting ‘Great Music from Great Britain’

The West Branch High School Instrumental Music Department will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the high school auditorium. The free performance titled "Great Music from Great Britain" will begin with the Brass Choir performing the Fanfare from "La Peri" by Paul Dukas, followed by Wilhelm Ramsoe's "Quartet #5" by the Saxophone Quartet and the Percussion Ensemble's rendition of "Encore in Jazz" by Vic Firth. The Jazz Ensemble will perform George Gershwin's "Strike Up the Band," an arrangement of "My Funny Valentine" by Richard Rodgers and Lennie Neihaus's "Hand Over Fist." Symphonic Band's selections begin with the powerful strains of "Mars" from Gustav Holst's "The Planets," Clare Grundman's "An Irish Rhapsody," Ralph Vaughn Williams popular "English Folk Song Suite" and "Hail to the Spirit of Liberty" by John Philip Sousa.
