NEW WATERFORD - The New Waterford Lions Club's 35th semi-annual all-you-can-eat roast beef dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Crestview High School.
Cost at the door is $10 for adults and $5 for children. All proceeds go toward sight-saving projects and educational scholarships.

Southern Local Schools hosting
District Showcase March 20
SALINEVILLE - The Southern Local School District will hold its annual District Showcase from 6 to 8 p.m. March 20. A pasta dinner will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. featuring rigatoni and meatballs, salad, beverage and dessert.
Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under. Carryouts are available. There will also be a Scholastic Book Fair that night from 6 to 8 in the elementary library.
Calla Community Church
hosting soup benefit March 21
CANFIELD - Calla Community Church is sponsoring a soup benefit for Stephanie Gearhaart at 4 p.m. March 21, or until sold out, at the church, 6482 W. Calla Road. Gearhaart was in a car accident in September 2013 and is continuing physical rehabilitation therapy at this time.

Salem Saxon Club hosting
public fish fry on Friday
SALEM - The Salem Saxon Club at 1980 Newgarden Road will host the second of its six annual Lenten public fish fries from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.
Dinners include a choice of baked or fried ocean cod, or breaded pork chops, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce or cole slaw, homemade cake, coffee, tea, iced tea or punch. Cost is $11 for adults, $6 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for under 6.

Banquet in Salem on Monday
SALEM - In honor of Gary Dermotta, the Banquet in Salem will be sponsored by St. Paul Team Five from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building.
Tomato soup, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, applesauce, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and ice cream will be served.

Canfield High performing 'Night
of the Living Beauty Pageant'
CANFIELD - Canfield High School will be performing the comedy "Night of the Living Beauty Pageant" at 7:30 p.m. March 21 and 22 in the high school auditorium.
The play involves two teenage boys hoping to get rich by holding auditions for a beauty pageant, but instead encounter many obstacles, demanding characters and just keeping themselves alive.
Tickets for the show are $8 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door.

SALEM - Members of the Woodsdale Cemetery Joint Board request that all winter and outdated decorations at Woodsdale Cemetery be removed prior to March 28 or they will be discarded.

garage sale scheduled April 5
SALEM - The Salem Memorial Building's indoor yard/garage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 5 at the Memorial Building, 785 E. State St.
An 8-foot tables and two chairs is available to rent for $10.

East Palestine Library hosting
book sale on Friday, Saturday
EAST PALESTINE - The Friends of the East Palestine Memorial Public Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the library's basement.
All proceeds will benefit the library. There is a large assortment of hardback and paperback books (adult, fiction, non-fiction, collectibles, and children's).
The books are separated into categories and the fiction books are in alphabetical order by author and the non-fiction books are displayed by categories of interest. Pregnancy Center's benefit
concert tickets on sale
SALEM - Tickets are still available for Lifeline of Columbiana County Pregnancy Center's benefit concert at 3 p.m. March 16 at the First Friends Church, 1028 Jennings Ave. This fund raiser is to provide revenue for training the medial staff, the purchase of ultra sound equipment, and the procurement of a new location.
The concert will be performed by Eric Genuis, acclaimed composer and pianist, along with three world class musicians, Avery Bright, violinist; James Rosenbloom, cellist; and Autumn Boyle, vocalist.

Benefit dinner, raffle planned
for Joe and Ruth Zarnosky
NEW WATERFORD -A benefit buffet dinner and raffle for Joe and Ruth Zarnosky will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Bojangle's Roadhouse, 48400 state Route 14. Cost is $20. Live music will be provided by John Branch.
The couple lost their house to a fire on Dec. 27, 2013. Three days later they were in a head-on collision that totaled their car, both sustaining many injuries. Not long after Joe fell while working on the property and tore his rotator cuff, he went through surgery on Feb. 12.
According to Misty Russell, "They are the couple who are always doing benefits for everyone else. I have never met such kind people that wanted to help everyone around them," she said. "Joe and Ruth have lost everything and are starting over. They have purchased a vehicle and trailer to stay in while they rebuild themselves a home. Our goal is to raise enough funds to help them with the many bills that continue to pile up."

hosting swim lesson program
SALEM - The Salem Community Center (SCC) will host another session of the American Red Cross swim lesson program beginning April 5 and running every Saturday to May 21. Six learn to swim levels are available, along with a Mommy and Me level for infants and their parent. Cost is $70 for non-members and $55 for members. A multiple child discount is available.
